Subject: Memo regarding Appeal for Tertiary Level Specialized Care for a Patient with a Chronic Lung Disease (COPD)

Dear Members (Health Care Team),

It is a written request to your team for tertiary-level specialized care for a patient suffering from pulmonary ailment. The identity of the said patient needs to be remained confidential. In this case, the tertiary level specialized care is needed because the patient is under severe conditions with symptoms of acute difficulty in breathing. COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a pulmonary disease that has badly affected the patient’s lungs in the present situation. It results in slow destruction of pulmonary tissues and ultimately, lung infection makes it very difficult for the patients to breathe. In this context, the primary symptoms may include cough, wheezing, chest tightening and difficulty breathing.

The patient under consideration in our organization has deteriorated lung functioning as he had Stage 3 COPD at the time of diagnosis. Consequently, at this severe stage of infection, the patient needs specialized care for efficient management. In this particular condition, he needs immense tertiary-level care which can only be provided at specialized health centers and hospitals with the necessary facilities. These centres usually have specialists to facilitate treatment and complex health procedures.

However, several influential factors leading to COPD in humans may include smoking, long-term exposure to pollution (primarily, the air pollution containing dust and chemical particles) along with genetic inheritance. Research have shown that smoking is the primary causative agent in almost 90% of cases suffering from COPD. Meanwhile, the reasonable impacts of this menace, i.e., COPD put last impressions in multiple dimensions. It significantly affects the overall community badly and places immense pressure on service and resources of the healthcare sector. Experts’ estimations show that COPD severely leads to disability and eventually death around the globe with about 3 million causalities on annual basis. Additionally, the patients suffering from this disease needs frequent hospitalizations globally which results in huge burden on healthcare services and resources. On the other hand, patients need urgent care due to short breathing and damage of lung tissues.

Considering the influential burden of COPD on healthcare services and the severe condition of our patient, I can’t help appealing your team for immediate tertiary level healthcare for him. Especially, I believe that he should be referred to such hospital with specialized staff and facilities for the condition of complex procedures regarding his treatment. In this way, his severe symptoms may be managed effectively for a sigh of his relief.

Yours Sincerely, Dated:
