Nursing Admission Personal Statement on Community and Service

Personal Statement – Admission

My childhood is a memory I would never expect to be ruined or vanished because that was the most beautiful time of my life. I am grateful for all the happiness I enjoyed due to my parents, teachers, and friends. Initially, I was located in Washington, and my father is a government official, and he has been in the service for more than fifteen years. My mother is a social worker and holds a managerial post in her NGO. She initially worked from home as her priorities were family, home, and children. I admire both of them for making perfect decisions for my life when I was a child and unable to take steps for my prosperous future.

My father was mostly occupied due to long foreign tours because his department was dealing with foreign affairs, so my mother needed to stay at home for me and my elder brother and sister. Public schooling is usually based on ethical development and helps in understanding the social norms of society. My mother has served for a long time as a volunteer in the public schools, and I have a proper attachment to the public schools as I have spent the maximum part of my day there during my childhood.

The environment of the area was positive, and everything was disciplined and well-managed by the authorities. My mother worked over there, and I joined as a student. Afterward, I used to help the junior students as well as kids in primary school to complete their homework and other necessary academic tasks. The community in which I grew up was very helpful and had a significant impact on my personal development. I could be a self-centered individual, as I saw many people around me in Texas and California, but my mother and the environment of the public school helped me a lot to become the right person.

The neighboring areas of my home included playgrounds, markets, and a few houses. There was very little social interaction among the neighbors; that’s why our family preferred public schooling. I have managed to learn some other skills, including maintaining good health and a clean environment, choosing good friends, helping others, and giving back. Due to these qualities, I can help others and stabilize myself financially as well as education-wise.

Relocating to California to join California State University Fullerton was my dream, as some of the best public and motivational speakers are teaching First Aid and healthcare on the campus, and I admired them when they visited the public school I used to go to. It was complicated to adjust to the new environment, but after some time, I joined the social groups of students to help needy students and to give support to students with weak academics.

My interest in medical education stemmed from my goals to provide efficient training improvements in government as well as private-sector healthcare institutions (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2021; World Health Organization [WHO], 2025). I already have skills to handle the crowd with my speaking and management skills, and I am looking forward to some better opportunities to enhance my medical education and working skills.

At this age, most of my friends know decidedly less about the social issues and the problems people are facing in the professional world, but because of my parents and my regular involvement with the professionals of the socially active departments, I can handle most of my own problems as well as those of others. I can proudly express that I am an excellent example of my parents and my best teachers who helped me a lot to groom me thoroughly.

Nursing Career – Essay

Considering nursing as your first-choice major, discuss how your current and future academic activities, extracurricular pursuits, and life experiences will help you achieve your goals.

I remember when I was a child, my father was a busy person, and he had very little time for his family. We lived in Bowie, Washington, United States, and my father is a government official. He has to manage long tours outside the country to manage the country’s problems in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and many other countries where U.S. troops were deployed. My father knew that any of his tours could be his last one because of walking into the uncertain lands which could blow him anytime, anywhere, so my parents decided to let me and my brothers and sisters learn the way of living and to serve others as well.

I have recently completed my high school education at Newport Senior High School in Washington. I hope to join a medical institute where I could be able to become a nurse to serve the people in peace and war.

My parents, during my initial education, linked me with public schooling, and since my mother is a doctor, she works as a physician at Providence Hospital. That’s why she tried hard to keep me connected with social work. It was fruitful for me, and I initially used to study and play at public schools, but later on, I used to teach young kids to help them out in their academics. As I finished high school, my parents allowed me to board and live in the hostels, which was beneficial for me to join one of the best medical institutes to serve the nation as my family does.

My current high school education, as well as my engagement with the public schools as a social worker, makes me perfect naturally for service to the people(American Nurses Association [ANA], 2025; WHO, n.d.). During the start of high school, I worked as an assistant for a private medical center. I learned some basics about providing treatment to patients and maintaining personal behavior, which helps in winning the patient’s confidence. During my assistantship at the medical center, I watched the pain on people’s faces, and the most reforming time in my life came when four beautiful girls were taken into the emergency department. They were injured in a severe accident, and due to the lack of staff at that time, I was supposed to give them first aid by cleaning their wounds and vaccinating them against tetanus. After that time, I built a dream to work in the nursing sector. I am looking forward to completing my education as soon as possible so that I should be able to start my dream career. This will be a fantastic time of my life.

In the second semester of my school, I worked as a helper for some NGOs in different educational and sports institutes to provide awareness to people about securing their health and keeping away from obesity, alcohol, and drugs as they are the worst enemies of American citizens.

All these experiences, as well as one official training as a primary medical care provider, would help me gain admission to nursing(AACN, 2021). Nursing is the only career that could thoroughly engage me in social work. I would be able to work as a volunteer for the medical centers with staff deficiencies and operating under the trust’s supervision.

My work in this field is not extensive, but since my mother is actively engaged in the medical field, I will work with her on a volunteer basis. Furthermore, I will also do my master’s so that I could be able to open my own nursing home and operate it properly.

Essay 3

Personal Statement – Nursing

Describe an experience that demonstrates your interest and commitment to your chosen health profession.

I am a high school student and live in Washington, DC. My father is working in the American high commission in London. Due to his busy schedule and costly relocations, we preferred to stay in our homeland. My father had a tough time while starting his career, and he didn’t want his children to suffer at that time. Therefore, he engaged me in social work and welfare activities since I was a child because my elder brother was groomed under my father’s supervision, and he gave him all the required lessons and training to be a perfect activist.

I had no aims in my life in the very initial stages, and because of my father and my elder brother, I was able to become beneficial to society. Now, since I am about to finish high school, I am looking forward to opportunities to narrow down my interests for choosing a profession. I have developed an interest in becoming a social worker and in receiving appropriate training in healthcare, such as nursing. It would help me to groom my skills concerning providing service to the public. My brother had an excellent profile of working in Texas, Mexico, and China to give refuge to the people affected due to natural disasters.

I had a chance to visit the schools in the rural areas of Alaska to help the teachers and children learn how to use first aid for giving support to the injured ones in an emergency. My interest was already developed in healthcare, but after that day, it became a passion. We were demonstrating all the possible techniques to save a dummy body from dying. At that moment, a boy fell from the window of some class and was found unconscious. The instructor and the team leader rushed towards him and gave him the proper treatment, as well as examined all parts of his body by applying pressure to check the status of the bones. In all that time, I was with him and helping him to treat the boy. For the first time in my life, I was working on a real incident. The teachers and security officials tried to keep away the crowd, but after examining the child and giving him first aid, my team moved him into a position so that everyone could view him, as he was no longer unconscious. In front of all of us, including the school students, he cleaned the injury areas and administered an injection of tetanus.

My commitment to healthcare social work strengthened, and I never stepped back from any chance to attend any training (ANA, 2025; WHO, 2025). I have vast experience in the organization of medical camps and working as a volunteer as well as a paid member of the teams. The commitment to the work could be defined in the sense that I worked free of cost without concern about any reward. Most of my duties and participation were as a volunteer, which let me learn some skills to manage people psychologically so that they wouldn’t panic about the pain caused during the treatment process.

After completing high school, I plan to relocate to a better university in California or Los Angeles. Choosing a health profession requires a proper and permanent commitment as well as complete attention during the learning period. This deals with human life, and no doubt, little errors could lead to terrible and unrecoverable damage. I am very good at doing my job and have an excellent commitment to it. Moreover, I also have the relevant prerequisite skills and psychological stability to be sustained in the healthcare profession.
