Social media platform loves to promote content that is related to nature, especially animals. In contemporary society, animal abuse is rapidly surfacing online. Animal abuse videos and pictures become viral on social media for multiple reasons. These reasons include awareness, monetary gain, and compelling the legislative sector to decrease animal abuse. However, apart from the rising animal abuse cases, the platform of social media is doing immense work in bringing these animal abuse cases into the limelight.

Nina Jackel who is the founder of the Lady FreeThinker (a non-profit organization working against dogfighting videos on Facebook) has collected more than 15 million signatures to compel the legislative sector to construct policies and laws against animal abuse (Facebook Breaks Its Own Rules On Animal Cruelty and Trading). Nina Jackel along with her team of LFT has been able to track down more than 50 Facebook pages that were posting content of dogfighting. Although animal abuse is posted online by social media users for the sake of monetary gain. However, welfare organizations and social media influencers are using social media platforms to raise awareness against such websites and pages which are uploading such animal abuse videos.
