The article, “Using the Scientific Method to Guide Learning: An Integrated Approach to Early Childhood Curriculum,” was written by Hope K. Gerde, Rachel E. Schachter, and Barbara A. Wasik who all belongs to the University of Michigan, in the United States of America. The main focus of the article was the early childhood curriculum. The early childhood programs are so important for the children which enable them to compete well in their later grades. In this article, the writers emphasized on the early childhood programs which are specifically designed to prepare the children for the scientific studies. Many studies and researchers showed that early childhood programs organize the children for science subjects in a brilliant, efficient and effective manner.

The young children need these programs to build their interest in the science subjects. But many factors hinder that including the lack of resources in the schools at childhood level. The low self-efficiency of teachers and fewer education resources impacts the children education, and it does not allow the high-quality classrooms and resources for the young children for their expertise in the science subjects. Every child deserves a quality education, but numerous schools are unable to provide them high-quality science education. The high-quality science education can improve and develop student’s interests in the science subjects. It adds great value to the knowledge of students and makes them able to learn about the critical analysis, critical thinking skills, and several other necessary skills. The article assessed the all available researches and studies on the science studies available and present in the preschool classrooms. The writers recommended many suggestions to add the science in the classrooms as well as how to teach it to young students. These recommendations could help the schools to make their children able to take interest and develop their skills related to science skills.

The results of the study showed that the scientific methods could train the young children about the methods and techniques of science subjects. The scientific techniques allow the children to learn about the science topics and tools to explore these issues. The questioning method and observation methods provide a way to explore the other subjects as well using these methods. The scientific techniques enhance and increase the young children abilities to use the language and literacy skills appropriately efficiently. The article provides in-depth detail about these techniques and how can these be used for the children in the classrooms by the teachers. The results of the study showed that the scientific method gives a unique way to the teachers to explore and assess the science subjects for their students. The main seven steps of the scientific method make the children able to enhance and increase their abilities and skills to learn and explore their educational world. It includes the observation, question, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, discoveries and new questions. The scientific study and activities in the classrooms provide an opportunity to the children to explore their surroundings and areas. It not only includes the science education but also includes several other abilities like problem-solving, observation, critical thinking skills which are effective throughout their academic career. This article provides excellent detail about the scientific methods and its usage in the early childhood education. I can use this significant information in my future academic career as well as my teaching career efficiently. Science subjects are no doubt important especially in the high school studies and impact significantly on the learning abilities of the students so; the scientific methods are valuable to implement in the classrooms. In the future, I will use these methods to perform in the classroom to enhance and improve the learning interest of the students in the science subjects. I will make specific plans and activities in the science periods which will include the patterns of scientific methods including the hypothesis, observation, questions and analysis factors. It will develop the critical thinking skills and abilities of the young children.
