Anyone can become a criminal. Society labels those who commit an offense in the neighborhood as criminals, and at times, they embrace and become mast ermines. To control a crime, a person first has to point out essential elements of the social bond. Secondly is to define society to bring out necessary people and institutions who are criminal and delinquent behavior steers. The difference in the association, the theory of social learning, social control, and labeling is part of the social process theory.
Analysis of Sociology Theories
Anomie -This theory is also known as Emile Durkheim, which is the name of the person who suggests anomie theory. Durkheim came up with this theory in the year (1858-1917) which is different from the social Darwinist, individualist, psychological, and biological positivist theories present in the nineteenth century. Quetelet and Guerry have recommended rerun to think, orientation, and ecological methods, as Durkheim presents. Lombroso and botanical positivists’ reputations prevent rethinking and adjustment of statistics. Merton argues that the American dream is the source of crime and also the struggle of citizens to decide between success and shortage to make success possible ( Hagan. 2017).
Social process -This theory explains the reasons why people engage in criminal behavior. People learn crime from one another and also inherit it across generations. Earlier slums were known as a source of corruption, and policies were put in place to bring these communities on a better path. People believe that spending time with people to socialize brings understanding to crime (Hagan. 2017). A person who engages in a criminal act visualizes more benefits than the consequences he will suffer after the action. Social control argues that rules of society’s wishes are an issue that socialization brings, and family members, jobs, schools, and friends ties contribute to maintenance. The rise in social bonds’ strength influences the cost of crime to an individual. Crime control policies are lengthy, and the police force is not favored by social control. This theory given the criminal justice system, it does not bring support.
Development or Life Course -These two focus on studying changes regarding behavior problems and offenses for a specified period. Development and life course have some differences in that, life course covers the essence of social structure, on the other hand, growth pertains to factors of psychology to elaborate the development process.
Theories that benefit a community
Social control: This theory is the number one factor that will help reduce the crime rate in society. Controlling crime by talking to family members and friends of a person who has gone rogue and reaching out to them is beneficial. Friends and family are people who are listened to, and they help shape the life of a person. Police involvement makes a criminal hard-headed that, even after serving time in a cell, comes back to society and continues with the same criminal behavior. Social process: getting to know people by mingling with their help in understanding why they steal or commit other crimes. Understanding the source of a problem gives an opportunity to come up with projects to aid in curbing corruption in a particular village (Hagan. 2017). Life course: social organization is vital in day-to-day life. When people communicate with each other, they relieve stress and thus have a healthy life. During times of grief or problems, family, friends, and clan support each other. The groups in society help a brother engage in crime. Development theory: the mental situation that a person has sometimes drives him or her to commit a crime. Studying society or a personal way of thinking helps to curb corruption. Anomie theory: a new way of thinking alienates people with wicked thoughts.
Gangs on the streets mostly have friends, so talking to them and convincing them to join you in starting a respectable business is possible. On the other hand, the person might not find his way, and taking him to authorities is the best teacher. In the slams, street children need people to guide them and lean on to avert stealing, but also, the government should forcefully take them away from the streets to home institutions. (Hagan. 2017).
People who have committed a crime should be first understood before being judged. Prosecuting criminals doesn’t add value to our society. Providing people in society with what they need is the best way forward to a better country.
