If people have multiple God genes, it means that some people might have a greater innate tendency for spiritual experiences that contribute to a person’s personality including personal beliefs, upbringing, environment, and experiences. However, this does not necessarily imply that there are more or less favored in a religious or spiritual sense. Reconciling this perspective with Christianity, God’s grace and His love for people are not something that can be earned or deserved regardless of genetic makeup but it is a gift to humanity which reflects His boundless compassion and love towards humanity. Therefore, from a Christian perspective, the distribution of the “God gene” emphasizes that God’s grace is the gift of God and does not affect the availability of God’s love not contingent on any human condition. Thus, the transformative power of God’s grace and love is believed to be available to all individuals who embrace it, subsequently leading to a deeper connection with the Lord God.
While some may fear that scientific inquiry diminishes the mysteries of faith in God, others believe it the inquiry of science enriches their understanding. The interaction between science or psychology and religion varies among individuals and it is a deeply personal matter providing a more comprehensive understanding of the human condition. So, the dialogue between psychology and religious beliefs continues to evolve based on personal preferences for science and religious beliefs.
