Why are there so many Baby Boomers?

There are a lot of baby boomers in the world. The generation of the Baby Boomers has this peculiar name due to the large number of babies born during the years 1946 to approximately 1964 just after the end of World War II. History tells us that the countries that lived through this “boom” of boys and girls were Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. The number of babies born in this post-war period is impressive, which makes it the largest American generation in history. Another feature that distinguishes Baby Boomers is their performance in all areas: work, professional, spiritual, cultural, political, social and even sports (Jung, 2011).

The World War II is the reason that there are a lot of baby boomers in the world. Baby boomers would be an excellent way to define a part of the greying in America, roughly after the war in 1946, World War II against Germany there was a significant increase in births but as the war was ending and roaring down the newly found heroes returned proudly. Approximately Seventy-six million people were born during the years of 1946 to 1964 and it was known as the baby boomers time, because of the enormous size compared prior to all the past generations (Rowntree, 2015).

Baby Boomers is more than a name is one of the largest generations in a number of people followed by the Millennial Generation or Generation Y. It is also known as the Generation “I”. Whatever the reasons may have been and whether the birth rate is now good or bad, the effects of the “population explosion” during 1946-1964 are that the baby boomers have become a demographic factor in the society (Jung, 2011).
