The prospect of Miami comprises on the large form of different public and private transportation systems. The significant transportation features of the Miami includes heavy rail mass transit (Metrorail), Tri-Rail, Metro mover, different highways. Airports and seaports are also the crucial forms of transportation in case of Miami state. It is notable to mention that Miami faces many challenges in case of its urban transportation which happens due to the increasing form of the demand for the transportation features in the state. Here the focus will critically identify different issues in case of urban transportation in Miami and come up with some valuable and feasible solutions to address the issue of transportation effectively and efficiently.
The recent overall prospect of the Miami indicates that the urban transportation system in the region needs a quick fix as it comes up with many issues on a daily basis. Undoubtedly, it becomes worse every day for the citizens to avail the services of the transportation. Traffic problem becomes gigantic day by day due to the urban expansion of the state. Nowadays, congestion on the roads and the highways is the one major concern of the people as they have to go through with these sort of problem on a daily basis (Scott). This particular problem of transportation appears due to the growing population which ultimately enhance the demand for the transportation services.
The growing issue of congestion in the state demands to critically understand the possible reason of this specific problem and what can be done to provide better transportation aspect to its citizens (Sayer). The issue of congestion of the roads and highways immensely cost to the commuters. One national study reveals that due to the heavy amount of traffic on roads and highways in Miami, divers can lose a great amount of time and they also have to bear the huge amount of cost. Another crucial aspect which is associated with the problem of congestion in the state is that negatively impact the overall environment due to the emission of the heavy range of the carbon dioxide. It is crucial to understand that the widening of the highways and roads cannot be the effective solution to overcome the problem of transportation in the state. It is the need of the time for the planners of the state to think out of the box to propose better solutions to deal with the prevailing issue of transportation in the state.
Different urban institutions of the state actively collaborated to figure out the better solutions to address the issue of transportation. The Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) adopt the prospect to formulate the coordination in case of transportation infrastructure among different cities of the state. The following organization presents the approach of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to address the issues related to the mobility in Miami. It can be the viable approach for the planners of the state to consider the feature of economic competitiveness to enhance the performance of the existing transportation system in the state.
The aspect of growing cost for initiating new ideas to address the issue of transportation is another major concern. It is crucial for the planners to effectively locate the possible means in the provision of the different projects related to the paradigm of transportation. There is the need of the specific approach of development closely linked to the aspect of transit hubs. Encouraging people towards walking and cycling can be the effective step to control the heavy range of traffic on roads.
State government tries its best to adopt the possible solutions to overcome the issue of transportation on immediate basis effectively. There is the need for the improvement in the transit system of the state (Mazzei). The prospect of technology up gradation can be identified as the one effective approach to regulate the aspect of transportation. Proper adoption of the state-of-the-art strategy ultimately helps people to get informed about the different facets related to the aspect of traffic. It is essential for the government of the state to consider the excessive approach of traffic when it comes s to different schemes and projects design for the transportation feature in and around the cities. Regional rail, local rail, bus, bicycle, different pedestrian paths, means in the form of water travel are the major point of concerns to deal with the issues of transportation effectively.
To conclude the discussion about the urban transportation in Miami, it is necessary to mention that it is the right time for the planners of the state to consider the importance of technology and adopt different innovative features to overcome the issue of transportation in the region. Advancement in the services of the transportation can fulfill the growing demand of the transportation. Proper integration in case of public transit and private form of transportation services can be a helpful aspect to enhance the facility of transportation. There should be better and advance means through which citizens can commute and move from one place to another with less time and cost.
