Socratic Ignorance And Socratic Methods

Introduction

Socrate is one of the historical names from the time of Rome history. Without this scholar, we cannot say that philosophy is incomplete, and he is an inspiration for many people from his time and to date too. The world has utilized their philosophy regarding defining politics, education, law, and governance. We can consider him the social scientist of their time in which they are working on things with facts and figures to better out their self and society. Plato had his inspiration from the Socrate. Also, many scholars believe that he shaped culture and intellectuality in profound terminology, which cannot be neglected in the history of philosophy. The essay is focused on the Socratic method of questioning and answers. In this he developed on the base of the claim that he was ignorant which he considered the absence of known knowledge, he also says that the life would be useless if you are unable to examine the life and your reason of living. Plato, who was the founder of Western philosophical thoughts and served Aristotle as a teacher, was inspired by his work and collected his thinking in the form of writing. He was living simply with the condition of ignorant that He doesn’t know anything, which made his life simpler in the way he never tried to influence his work through writing(Socrates | Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy).

As Socrates gives the world with rising of the reasoning behind the things. There was a revolution in the history of philosophy where he gives a point to raise the question of what is even known to us. I do agree with the model being provided by this method, but universally things are changing right now, through which we need a deep study to look at how to improvise this model and how it is not suitable to get fully dependent on it. There is a connection between ignorance and reasoning in the evolution of this thought.

In this essay, we will review in detail the Socratic method and its criteria we will also look up the Socratic ignorance that led him to develop the Socratic method regarding question and answer. In this, we will be able to identify how these methods work and their regular implementation in practical life and different sectors. Also, we will evaluate the problems seen in today’s world with this method and the need for reform. Mostly in this, we will take the help from the plate working because he has highlighted things briefly with regards to Socrates and his philosophy.

Discussion

Socratic Ignorance is a reason for developing Socratic methods. Socrates used to consider himself he knows nothing. Even what he knows is worthless till the other is able to answer what he knows. According to philosophers, when one person considers recognizing his knowledge absent and what he knew is not worth known as Socratic Ignorance. Nowadays, we know the concept of unlearned behavior, which is derived from the Socratic ignorance concept of life. There is a categorization of simple and double ignorance. Single ignorance means a person becomes aware of his ignorance, and double ignorance means to consider others as important that he knows, but personally, you are unknown to anything. Most people manipulate this idea of Socrates as Socrates considers that he doesn’t know anything, but he knows about his ignorance, and whatever he knows is worthless. He had strong convictions to make an ethical life, but he did not provide any strong conviction why these all are true. There are various debates that can be seen from the history of his ignorance philosophy, for which he never tried to prove himself right anyway, while he considers ignorance as the reason for developing question and answer methodology, which is famously known as the Socratic method.

There are some contrasting examples we can take from his writing about the wisdom he tried to develop to understand his ignorance and how he can remove it and develop a world with the concept of reasoning. Even his accusation was due to his search with his accuser, Meletus. One day, Socrates was thinking we take a horse to get trained by the horse trainer who develops his capacity to become useful for the owner in different activities, so if we want to improve or train over youth, where will we take them? This becomes the foundation of his own accusation, and been assassinated on the charge of corrupting youth. This example gives the possibility for a human to achieve expertise in their field in which subject gets developed while disagreement between philosophers will remain forever.

Socratic Method

The Socratic method was developed by Socrates to answer his ignorance and know himself as the most worthless person with knowledge and wisdom, for which he developed the method of inquiry in which he developed the sense of reasoning. While Plato considers Socrates as his midwife, typically, the method under which we put it is Elenchus. The embracing of the other person knows and putting into the idea of the wisdom from the idea of other and embracing the collection and division of people concerning their learning by asking them questions which proceed them from hypothesis to the principle of the logic(“What Is the Socratic Method?”).

Socrate always claims that he has no wisdom and that what he knows is worthless, for which is tries to find some wisdom, which, firstly, went to the politician. He found the people lacking wisdom; nextly, he visited the poet, where he found a beautiful explanation with regards to their inspiration, yet they have some wisdom through their divine nature. The secret, later on, found a craftsman he identified as knew his crafting criteria and declared them as better knowledge holders than anyone, where he declared himself a better citizen of the city because of his knowledge of his ignorance. There is Socrates’ statement in Apology that God who speaks is truly wise, whereas human wisdom has no worth or little(Socratic Method).

Still, the Socratic method created a revolution in the history of humanity, but still, in brief, watching all over the method in the 21st century, there is a world beyond the question of correlation, but there are complexity and manipulation that require analyzing the things more broadly and mega perspective. Also, using this system in modern education just helps students to participate in the class but not develop their analytical skills which is not considered suitable yet for this functioning world.

There is also a limitation with regard to the field. Mostly, the design is based on the justification of the systems, which mostly influence the study of law, while the other studies cannot benefit well in this regard with theological and mathematical or qualitative reasoning.

Conclusion

Socrates provides the world with a new gate of searching for the world’s truth, which is only getting able when you develop the question on the answer. There are many things going on in the world that we are not allowed to question, but everything requires a reason to stay in social practice or the surroundings. Mostly today, we neglect even the individual to analyze things and ask the question: am I living a good life?
