Reflection On Achievement Of Outcomes

Over the course of my MSN program, I have transformed into a skilled professional nurse. Throughout the progression of my studies, each class reinforced my critical thinking skills and knowledge. The course work nurtured me into a competent professional nurse with the strong ethical and moral values required to make critical clinical decisions. Overall, the course offered me a holistic approach to what nursing practice entails, as well as the impact of advanced nursing practice. The program helped me to develop excellent communication skills as well as interprofessional skills and now I can develop precise, thorough SBRA reports which articulate the activities of the interdisciplinary team. Interprofessional team collaboration is associated with improved patient outcomes (Morton et al. 2017). Moreover, the course allowed me to develop my critical thinking abilities as well as clinical reasoning, which are very instrumental in nursing practice.

The program helped me to learn to provide compassionate and patient-centered care. It nurtured my leadership skills, which I apply effectively to delegate tasks and persuade members of my team in research studies. I use my leadership skills to develop collaborative communication and rapport with interprofessional teams. The knowledge of clinical research has strengthened my knowledge base in the provision of nursing care to special groups in society, including pediatric and geriatric patients. Also, my MSN program broadened my knowledge base of information technology and nursing information. With advancements in technology, health information systems have been digitalized, and data is stored in electronic health records (EHRs) (Simpson, 2015). Gone are the days when healthcare providers used to record patient health information in handwritten charts. My knowledge of nursing informatics has enabled me to document and access healthcare information while safeguarding and protecting patient information. These competencies helped me to see an overall positive transformation in my career since the onset of my professional journey as a registered nurse.
