New Practices Approach

Write a reflection journal (250-300 words) to outline what has been discovered about your professional practice, personal strengths and/or weaknesses, and additional resources that could be introduced in a given situation to influence optimal outcomes. Each week, there will be a specific focus to use in your reflection. Integrate leadership and inquiry into the current practice. Please make sure to address all areas in your writing.

Technological advancements help nurses perform their tasks and practice patient care effectively and efficiently. Currently, the nursing sector is better than in the past three decades. There have been technological advancements such as robot-assisted surgery, which may replace surgeons in the future, humanoid nursing robots, and companion robots, which provide social services to patients who have special needs such as autism. Additionally, there is the development of new artificial intelligence that helps machines make critical decisions and improve patient care coordination (Okpala, 2018). The hospital is continuing to embrace the use of common medical devices such as infusion pumps that help deliver fluids such as nutrients, thus helping control service delivery as it delivers the fluid in precisely programmed intervals. Most of these infusion pumps are fortified with programmed clinical guidelines and drug libraries that have a detailed list of drugs for prescribed doses. The smart pumps are designed in a way that they can help evaluate programming errors, thus notifying the nurses when they are exposed to an adverse drug interaction. When doctors are administering specified drugs, the smart pumps generate alerts, which are the hard stops and clinical warnings (Holzinger et al., 2019). Clinical alerts provide data about drugs within the administering facility’s drug library, which includes instructions for actual administration, which are forfeited to the pump by the big organization.

Moreover, mobile health clinics are vital, innovative healthcare delivery models that help alleviate health disparities in vulnerable populations and patients with chronic diseases. Mobile health clinics help provide urgent care and introduce chronic disease management (Malone et al., 2020). The opening of mobile health clinics helps patients get personalized and cheap healthcare that enthusiastically responds to changing social needs. The epidemiological program created by the medical health map aids in providing ways in which nurses can monitor the health characteristics of underserved populations. The medical health map supports the clinics in sharing aggregated demographic data that concerns the population that they serve and the different services that they provide.
