Morning Hypertension in Asian Populations

I found this article ‘Morning hypertension in Asian populations’ very interesting and informative. There were many ideas proposed by the authors on which I was agreed with. It has been deduced by other agencies as well that hypertension is the leading cause of mortality and cardiovascular morbidity. Authors have suggested that morning hypertension along with stroke is much prevalent in the Asian population. Hence, this paper was very informative in predicting out how to overcome morning hypertension as it may have some adverse effects on the Asian community.

Authors claimed that a well proper morning clinic BP evaluation is used as a screening tool to diagnose morning hypertension in the people. It was evident that increase in the BP was noticed in the morning hours or at the night time as well. Moreover, cardiovascular events were being vulnerable at this time. The authors proposed the solution of this by controlling hypertension of people at this time through appropriate randomized controlled clinical trials. The paper did exceptional in evaluating all the scenarios associated with the morning hypertension consequences and what ways should be adopted to overcome this. Before this paper, I didn’t have much knowledge related to the screening tools to be utilized to diagnose morning hypertension and how vital it is to diagnose morning hypertension to acknowledge association with the cardiovascular events. There are some significant clinical trials mentioned by the authors like HOPE, SPRINT, ASCOT, VALUE, and HOMED-BP that can be used to diagnose this association however each varies according to different clinical characteristics he possessed. This paper has highlighted the importance of morning hypertension found prevalent in the Asian population and how various effective antihypertensive treatments can be used to diagnose them. Along with this, it has aroused the importance of randomized clinical trials that can enable us to find out the association between morning hypertension and better cardiovascular outcomes.
