Introduction
The financial markets and their underlying theories and analytical tools have always fascinated me to acquire their in-depth knowledge and work as a finance manager in this continuously growing and innovating industry. Therefore, during my Bachelor in Finance and Management, pursuing my natural tendency towards analytical and financial exercises, I not only excelled myself in different subjects such as Intermediate Financial Management, Derivatives, Investment Portfolio Management, and Mergers and Acquisitions but also gained the motivation and determination to take this learning to an advanced level through an MSc program so that I can effectively apply an innovative approach to the different problems of the industry. In this regard, the MSc program at Kings College will equip me with the essential information and tools to professionally grow myself in this sector by applying my newly developed analytical and interpersonal skills in its highly competitive, challenging, and rewarding environment.
Academic Achievements
During my graduation from Herbert Business School, Miami, I got on the Dean’s List and was awarded the John and Melanie Rohrer German Scholarship for my excellent academic performance. I was also able to appear in CFA Level 1 exam after completing the academic and professional work experience requirement in 2020. Moreover, to build my strong foundations of financial knowledge, I have completed various certifications such as Bloomberg essentials, Bloomberg Market Concept, and certification in Equity Trading and Investment by ICFL along with actively attending various conferences and workshops such as a 3-day workshop on Fintech conducted by NSE to comprehend the market trends and role of the young finance professionals in innovating the industry. Therefore, based on my current financial insights and knowledge, I can potentially grasp and apply the new skills and advanced knowledge gained during this program.
Work Experience
For postgraduate students, they must have a good understanding of their professional roles to successfully align them with their academic progress. However, this professional insight cannot be developed without hands-on experience in the desired industry. And therefore, I have always tried to utilize different work opportunities very efficiently to apply my analytical skills and comprehend the challenges in the finance sector from my first job as Hedge Fund Management Intern at DFN Management LLC in 2017 to my last job as Financial Analyst at Student Managed Investment Fund in 2020. I have also worked as Intermediate Financial Management, Investment Portfolio Management, and Financial Research Assistant at different organizations during these years to perform rigorous and challenging work of stock screening, trend investing, financial analysis, etc. All these experiences have provided me with the fundamental skills of management, communication, leadership, and analytical thinking that can further help me greatly to effectively master the advanced analytical skills and theoretical financial knowledge to be offered throughout this course.
Extra-Curricular Activities
I truly understand the importance of different extra-curricular activities in developing interpersonal and practical skills, therefore, I have worked at Hurricane Productions as a general body member, at Sympulse as Procurement and Logistics Committee Member and at Akanksha Foundation as Volunteer to acquire the skills of critical thinking and teamwork by going through different activities that require meticulous management and leadership. These experiences will immensely help me in group projects and presentations during the course as well as in different extra-curricular activities on campus.
Conclusion
Considering the course requirements and course description, I believe myself a potential candidate for MSc Corporate finance, with extensive prior knowledge of different investment theories and models and experience of working as a finance researcher analyst at various organizations. Moreover, my previous academic record also exhibits my sound knowledge of corporate finance and investment management which can boast my understanding of the internal workings of corporations, institutions, and firms.
