Health And Social Care Needs

Introduction

In the circumference of the community, there are different kinds of essential needs required by every member living over there. Among those necessities, the health care issue possesses a critical position, and it is increasingly demanding its complete overhauling. As the Borne Wood case unfolded, the serious negligence on the part of hospitals, using unfair means to agitate those old age people under the Mental Health Act 1983. What has been done with Mr. HL revealed the behavior, treatment, and professionalism of mental hospital staff? These people above sixty or seventy years are visiting different courts for the purpose of justice regarding their care in the concerned centers has also unfolded the real picture of the working staff of hospitals. What issues they faced during the trials and proceedings are not only alarming but also dangerous for the whole community to revise daycare centers and the medical profession. Members of the parliament are equally responsible for the healing of the patients like that of HL. These health acts and laws, including social requirements of community members, need complete revision to make society rigorous and progressive. Negligence towards these cases that happened with Mr. HL in a socio-cultural environment would lead to chaos, anarchy and destabilization of the community.

Description

Before jumping towards the detailed discussion on the needs and wants of the people, it is essential to start with the health care issues that are presently residing inside the mental hospitals. For a living being, good health is very important. The life of an ordinary person depends on the well-being of his/her health, not on the other regular activities or social factors that have any concern with the person living with an ill health problem. However, with the increasing difficulties in the proper changing environment, the health of individuals is destroying each day. In the same way, it becomes imperative for the masses to understand the very basics regarding the dynamics of health. Rapidly changing natural causes and deficiencies have made it complicated that humans’ social needs require preferences regarding health care services. The process of thinking and perception has also changed how one should deal with the specific type of body problem or related issues. Now, the pattern has reversed due to the revolution taking place on the subject. (Ayres,2003)

There are various small and significant factors contributing to these health issues in different parts of the world. Changes in the demographics ways and health literacy have provided new views and comments on the fitness of people. To understand the real issues of health problems it is necessary to have an in-depth look at the concepts that are core related to the competence of the individual. The first one would be normalcy. Being a healthy individual, a person depicts positive and general collective behavior, which is most consistent with his excellent health factor. Here, the subject is very vast, and in this context, that is how normality unfolds in a person of every age. When defining the term health, the immediate perception of the ordinary mind gets the answer that the one who is discussing here must be an average person. A sound process of human organ functions stands for the explanation of the healthy state of an individual. In the same way in clinics, normalcy unfolded that a rational service of the body parts along with the mental system is operating, and no such disease comes under the screen.

The reverse action or the report regarding the heath would be an abnormality. In this case, an HL has lost his speaking contact between the mind and other parts of the body. Disintegration appears in the functions of the organs, and it will be unfolded via the movements and actions of that respective man. Medical science describes that type of situation as a state of abnormality. Behavior and specific activities in general also reflect the same position, which the doctors mostly describe as a concerned issue of medical treatment. The partial functionality of the person’s body parts and the walking style remain disabled and disconnected. Loss of this type might occur from the birth of the individual, as only a medical check could reveal how much time a man has to face this situation. Similarly, a person could have one or more types of disabilities, or some of them might not be disclosed or hidden somewhere. In this regard, a thorough screening of the body would be required to determine whether the man has single or multiple diseases operating inside the body. Syndromes like that of post-polio or epilepsy are examples in this regard. There also are other kinds of conditions that are mostly not known by the said person or related people. Among these disabilities, there are multiple sclerosis and the issues like that of spina bifida. (Galano, 2006)

In the historical context, we have numerous examples wherein people do not care about those people that are having disabilities or illnesses. The primary example is available in the dealing of mental care centers with HL. This carelessness then proved for an extended period that a HL has faced. The outcome of not caring for the patients was the situation which became more sophisticated for the individual and then remained challenging to tackle for improvement and good health. For example, the problem of mental illness is most common, by which out of five people every individual possesses some psychiatric diseases. Some children are experiencing the issues of mental health; they are one out of ten in number. In the same way, modifications are there in the condition of health with the changes that are taking place in health and social care services.

Drastically, these changes are persistently operating in the socio-cultural atmosphere of the people. A short look on the positive side reveals that regarding the issue of stigmatization and discrimination, authorities, along with the masses, are using awareness tools. The situation was decidedly worse before these waking-up health calls for the ordinary members of the community. Now things are significantly changing and becoming more comfortable for every individual. Health education also has played a vital role in uprooting this task of massive campaigns regarding health care issues. In the same way, different policies have also worked for the welfare of the people in different social sectors. Increased legislation adopted by the members of the political class for those sectors and facilities that are unavailable to those people belonging to the typical type of society.

A policy for health care and services could play a very important role in providing significant and progressive services to the people of the ordinary class. The members of the UK parliament passed such a deteriorating policy and health detention acts. If the social system does not provide support to the specific needs of ill-health people, it would be very complicated for these people to lead a pleasant life. The legislation became important at the individual level and level of the masses. For example, in the United Kingdom, it is the responsibility of the state secretary to provide comprehensive services to the people regarding the health sector. Getting these facilities would make it easier for people to improve their physical and mental health issues. In addition to these fruits of the policy, health services will also increase prevention measures and diagnosis of psychological and physical fitness issues. However, the more critical point in delivering the best services to the people is the fact that staff of remedial classes must have robust capabilities and related expertise to ensure the delivery of excellent healthcare services. The quality of the medicines and the instruments also have an essential role in diagnosing the actual disease contain the sick person. In this way, only the formulation of policy will serve the due purpose unless crucial ingredients are added to the physical instruments.

Other than these written documents of designing specific plans, the system of health care must incorporate such a style of creating flexibility so that it could effect change with the passage of time to make it by the requirement of the society. A community-based health training must also engage all individuals to develop a culture of awareness regarding health and incorporation of necessary emergency steps to save the life of the person at the time of acute illness. It happens that in some cases, in fulfilling the needs of people who are weak health care system fails to provide them with their due needs and requirements. People in the UK region are on an increasing trend regarding the caring of social health issues. The total percentage of those individuals who are crossing the age of eighty-five will double in the coming twenty years. These statistics are unfolding the reality of the system of health and social care that is working in the West. This also shows that the needs of these ill-health people will be more complicated in the future time.

It would not be possible for the state to provide care to every patient who approaches the hospital for his/her treatment. Preparations in giving due health facilities are incomplete and require immediate measures to overcome the problem that is destroying the system of health. Another problem regarding the issue of health is that when a patient reaches the hospital for his/her treatment, he possesses a specific question in his mind: how much time will he have to spend here? This is, in fact, a psychological problem, and this issue is connected with the mental health of a person. Most of the time medical staff did not care about these small painful activities, but it has adverse effects on the personality of the patient and the service delivery of the hospitals. (World Health Organization, 2012)

An essential part of the health care system needs the due attention of the concerned authorities, that is the missing of one of the service at one time, like when health care is available social care will not provide to the patient. This is a big flaw operating in the social health care system of the UK Government. When the system of health and social care joins up and when collective services are available for the people, then the highest demands of the patient will automatically be met, and the person will find satisfaction with the services provided to him. Researchers have studied and analyzed the effectiveness of the existing system, which is providing health care services to the people. The study regarding the availability of health services was conducted for the old agers, wherein a group of people offered both social and healthcare facilities. In the initial stages of the research, the result was positive. Assessment of the needs of health and social care needs was successful and concluded timely. This was a single approach propounded for two substantial aspects covering the needs of a person. The communication process, understanding the related elements and assessing the information required were improved, but when the researcher tried to implement this process, it seemed that is not working correctly. The organizers even evaluated the specific needs of individuals correctly, but when it came to implementation, they were unable to work, as the system does not support the said process. Modernization of the implementation phases would serve the best and can play an essential role in helping people with poor manners.

The same problem has been pointed out by the Mental Health Act Commission, which shows that the same result is in other sites with these lapses concluded by the observers. In the number of cases where twenty-two thousand mental patients went under detention, the efficiency of the present model operating in the health units has been questioned frequently. To make these two services more efficient and in line with the needs of the patients, it is essential to fix the legal status of both portions and not to coordinate them. Because this type of attachment would be temporary and would not serve the real purpose. There are numerous ways to support the primary social needs of an individual. However, it is essential to adopt those strategies and policies that describe the best serving purpose. Healthcare alone can be best suitable for a person, but when it comes to collaborating with social care, its approach becomes different. In this regard, a typical scenario approach would work efficiently.

The intervention procedure is very helpful in eradicating the problem of social and health care requirements of the people. The process must contain standard start-up; it will help the neediest person with rapid response and with accurate measures. Other than health and care services, interventions there are motor, sensory, and developmental interventions. However, health and services intervention requires planning, and it takes place in different phases. The involvement of health and services care is mostly designed in such a way to satisfy the needs of the person who is ill health. In the same way, their specific common therapies that might be more useful for the deceased individual. In a way, medical staff must use a variety of tools in diagnosing the issue of the patient, like the inclusion of a professional therapist, speech and language therapies, along with treatments that are related to the psychology of the person. Along with these kinds of diagnosing medical issues, some procedures have an operational standard like that of medication, speech therapy and physiotherapy. Similarly, services that are based on the interventions have the capability of providing health education aid, development of the skills of an individual, and progression regarding the purpose of responding to a health emergency.

Various techniques could be applied to a person his early recovery from the diseases. The health and related requirements of the individual should be checked on a regular basis so that the body of the person at the end of the day might be able to function, if not then he will not work or cannot do anything else. Identify the health needs thoroughly and make a strategy according to the requirement. Those activities, which the individual has to undergo and for the easiness of the patient, make those actions on ritual formats. After applying the particular approach, let’s check it on a regular basis because continuous monitoring would give you the real picture of the method implied. The staff could easily track the report in a particular way by constant analysis. There must also be valuable scope for improvising, which, in return, improves the process and provides all the updates required to develop the specific methodology. The therapeutic class of society must incorporate the challenges that are coming in the due process of time. One of the issues is that with the enhancement in accessing information, people are more informed and more knowledgeable about various topics and subjects. In the same way, the blessing of the advancement in technology information is now on the fingerprints. However, observing and making an analysis of this information is a very different issue. In most cases, it is analyzed that parents or guides of the patient intrude in the professional work of the medical staff without having sufficient and significant knowledge of the issue. These people are extra cautious about the well-being of their close family members, but their interruption in the profession of the operating staff has no benefits for the patient.

Another challenge for service providers is that they have to manage the delivery of the services with limited financial resources and with the agenda provided to them by the higher authority. This happens due to the consistent dynamics in demands and increasing expectations from the public regarding healthcare issues. The behaviour of the health care providers as shown by the Mrs E needs immediate revision because they have to understand the needs and requirement of the patient. Their response mostly agitates the person residing in their care centers. In this situation, the staff has to manage all the things, including how to behave with the deceased individual, but mostly, their action possesses much pretty style, which creates a relaxed atmosphere for all. In the same way, these people have to evaluate their planning, and they have to be cautious regarding the effects of the plan. All of their work requires normal functioning and regular monitoring so that the services can become more and more efficient. (McCrone, 1995)

Despite these challenges, the people inside the hospital and the day-care center have to maintain relationships with other units of the organization. As stated by Mrs E that staff has not consulted with us regarding the detention of HL. Mostly, they need support from other entities, of which some are a giver and some for receiving the issues of the patients. Similarly, all the activities have a particular timeline; some tasks are of an urgent nature, and in the institution of health and social care services, it becomes more sophisticated when a paralyzed patient comes for treatment and staff has to manage his minor and major issues. They also have to get support from the attached departments, which are mostly arranged to provide quick services to the patients. In a situation like this, people working over there have to communicate regarding the problem at hand with the members that are involved along with them. They also share the burden of the responsibilities and the course of actions that are available in their duty time. These types of characteristics are necessary for the general medical community to provide efficient services to ill-health people. If they do not share the information with each other, they will have to face criticism from the public. (Weinert, 1987)

Given these issues and challenges, there must be specific rewards for those who are serving the people in the best possible manner. Promotions with increased bonuses should be implied for the worker to enhance their capabilities and service effectiveness. These types of incentives automatically build their capacity and their way of dealing with mentally ill patients. If the hospital staff were deprived of their due bonus and rewards, then their professional skills would be reduced significantly. The relationship between the patient and service provider also requires improvements. It is because of the fact that the rude behavior of both implied in the day center would create hurdles for both to reach some solution. Working people have certain limits from where they cannot go far. Here, patients need to understand the issues with the caring institute. In a way, understanding like this would pave the way for the welfare of both stakeholders.

Conclusion

To sum up the discussion, it is a notable point to note that health and social care needs are the most important issues of human society. In civilized communities, patients like HL got not only care but also a positive response from state and health care centers. Much of the amount and services have been invested in the development and progress of old age people. By this spending, people tried to overcome all the ills, including ill health, social security needs and the necessities that are worth mentioning for human survival. Regardless of these deficiencies, reformation in the health centers and complete overhauling of the mental care center and legislative health care acts would eradicate all the post-modern issues concerned with the person or any individual residing in the society.
