E-Waste Energy Recovery Policy

Research E-Waste Energy Recovery Policy Options

In the early few years, technological advancement in electronic management of data have encouraged economic development and better lives of people in uncountable ways. In the last few years, millions of pounds of materials have been recovered from electronic devices, including steel, glass, and plastic, and many precious metals have also been recovered. The policy that is most efficiently used is reduce, reuse and recycle (Bilgili, Ozturk, 2015).

a. Discuss the pros and cons of your assigned policy option.

Pros:

  1. Minimizes pollution
  2. Environment protection
  3. Reduction in global warming
  4. Natural resources are conserved
  5. Reduce Energy consumption

Cons:

  1. Huge cost
  2. Recycling places are unsafe
  3. Products are not durable
  4. Recycling is not widespread on a large scale
  5. Recycling may not be inexpensive

b. Describe changes that can be made to make this policy option more effective.

Some changes can be made to this policy in order to get more effective results, waste retailers are required to gather small items of electronic waste from consumers otherwise alternative scheme can be more effective.

c. Provide one action that individuals can take to positively influence policy making in regards to your assigned policy option.

Individuals can boost a culture of giving value to the resources by making it easy for other people to discover how to reduce their waste products, find out how to use their products a bit longer and enable the reuse of products by other people.

  1. Biomass Energy
  2. Describe one economic and one environmental challenge associated with your assigned energy source.

Usage of bioenergy could lead to improved economic development and this may also cause poverty relief, especially in rural areas. However, it attracts investors to invest in new business opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.

Biomass is an easily available energy source that can yield power with the help of liquid, gas and solid fuels. The environmental challenge involves climate change, mitigation, afforestation and reforestation (Kumar, Baredar, Shukla, 2015).

  • Compare the supply side and demand side issues related to your assigned energy source.

Demand-side issues involve spatial leakage but with a positive aspect, whereas supply-side policies lead to leakage of the same magnitude but in a negative aspect. The leakage under demand-side policies works in favor of climate.e

  • Describe one policy that would ensure your assigned energy source would be a major energy source for the USA in the next 50 years.

Biomass resources estimate that over 680M tons of biomass could be made accessible in a sustained way within the USA till 2030. Energy producing crops that contain tall grass and speedy growing trees, around 400 million tons will be produced each year by the year 2030.
