Do I Believe In Equal Rights For Women And Men

Thesis

The debate of equality for both genders has been debated so much over the years. Some people think men and women are not equals and should not be treated the same, whereas others have a different opinion and believe that men and women are equals. The gender difference differs in countries such that in Europe and the Western world, men and women enjoy equal rights. In Arab society, it is quite different as men play a dominant role in the society according to the Sharia laws. The key difference between men and women is established in social, religious, historical, and social backgrounds.

The questions we should ask ourselves are: why do men and women compete differently? Why is it that, in accordance with statistical data, men hold more senior offices compared to men? Is there a female president, if so how many? Has any woman led an army?

Men and women are not equals; we were all created differently. Therefore we should not be treated as equals because of the physical difference and cultural difference, also women should be treated in some special way.

Do I Believe In Equal Rights For Women And Men

We are fully aware that women are not selected for all kinds of jobs done by men due to their psychological or physical indifference. It is very clear that men and women are physically different. Men are stronger than women. Their body physique consists of strong muscles and thick skin. This qualifies men for jobs such as driving and construction work, which requires endurance and strength. Some researchers have concluded that most men use the left side of their brain, which allows them to solve one problem at a time.

Another fact is that women are less likely to be influential than men. Men are known to have more authority and legitimacy. Women play different roles in society. Thus, they cannot be compared to men. Women are exceptionally good at domestic jobs and are rated as the best caregivers, this gets them the lowers status compared to men who earn a higher status since they are even more aggressive. More so, women are too sensitive and emotional. This makes them an easy target to influence their opinion; women easily change their opinions when treated tenderly by men.

Nevertheless, women are known to be controlled by their culture and society. It is true that women pay great attention to the rules of society and tend to be more cultural. To add to the above facts, over the years, men have been known to be the providers who fulfill the family’s financial needs. Women have been depending on men for decades, taking care of the home and the children. Society and religion require these women to obey their husbands; in societies like the Arab world, men play primary roles in families, which are very patriarchal. Another supporting fact is that women have the role of raising children and taking care of the house, while men take care of their women: aunts, daughters, wives, mothers, and sisters.

Concerning the equality of women in our society, recently, women have been working and supporting their families the same as men. Women have proven that with a good education, they have a chance of making a good career. This is the primary reason why educated and working women feel more confident and independent. Some women choose their own particular lifestyle and do not follow any old traditions, living in accordance with the Western type of life. These women do not depend on their men or husbands; some of them even earn more than their husbands.

Another objection is that when comparing the population, women are more than men; this means the government should offer education to create more working opportunities for women. According to statistical data, women tend to live longer than their counterparts. It is proven that women live almost five years longer than men, which indicates that women are healthier beings than men. This is a strong point as to why women should be given more opportunities at work.

Another extra point is the evidence of women holding senior positions at the workplace in Western society, countries such as the USA that were once occupied by men and doing their jobs well, hence the popular quote, “If a man can do it, then a woman can do it even better.” Women are in the police force, and some even serve in the army.

However, it is essential not to forget that even when women are good and capable, and even some of them hold offices that were believed to be Patriarchal, it does not mean that they can occupy these leading positions. They only qualify as good officers or employees but are never allowed to head the company or department. This is because of the man’s ego and chauvinism; men do not want to obey women in positions, as they believe it dishonors them.

According to research, it has been noted that most men have a problem with the idea of a female chief. They believe that women should be good housewives and help raise children. Becoming a chief will hinder them from paying attention to the development of their children and being a good wife.

Another thing is that even though men and women can get the same education and some women are excelling more than men, it does not indicate that they can perform some tasks such as construction like men. All this is related to the fact that men are built to be more enduring, responsible, and have strength.

Lastly, in the spheres of human activity where women play a leading role, such as politics and jurisdiction, they find it hard in the sense that a policewoman needs to be extra strong. Weak and sensitive women need protection and cannot qualify as policewomen, unlike men, whom these traits come naturally, being a protector and strong.

Conclusion

To conclude, it is significant that men and women can never be equals and should not be treated in the same way. Men should be given a more dominant role in society; this is because they qualify as stronger, more assertive, and more stable in decision-making. Women have proven they cannot perform all the jobs that men do; they have an absolutely distinguished body construction. Traits such as endurance, self-possession, strength, and patience allow men to become more sturdily lacking in women. Over the decades, women have shown how they are weak and need someone to rely on. Their emotional trait makes them too sensitive to handle serious and firm decisions. In all this, I believe that women should bear children and become caregivers, take care of them at home, and leave the leading role to men. Earning money is a man’s responsibility and duty.

Women cannot be compared to men, even when they enjoy equal rights in our society. It is clear that men do not want to be headed by a woman. They do not want to take instructions from a woman. Even when the constitution states that women and men have equal rights, men will always feel their dominant role.

Women and men should have equal rights in specific areas, such as education, the right to vote, speech, and respect. Their social, economic, and political rights should not also be infringed. Throughout the world, women have strived to achieve equality with men, the right to go to work, boldly say their opinion, the right to choose their marriage partners, and how to express their emotions. Women writers have also fought for the right to use their names openly when publishing controversial articles; this is to enable them to be wholly recognized as effective members of their communities and become a part of every walk of life. They are making economic, social, and political decisions to prove that they can successfully promote their communities. Unfortunately, asking for equality has become a punishment for these women. For this reason, women need to reconsider their idea of equality.

The constant question in people’s minds is why young women want so much to prove that they can be equal to men in business, leadership positions, political fields, etc. The big question is why? Why would women want to be equal to men when, over the years, men have led them over a good path? The idea of men and women as equals is clearly flawed. We are dissimilar in many ways; one cannot be compared to the other. Why are women trying so hard to be “like men?” This notion definitely sets women up for failure, there is so much comparison going on for the wrong ways.
