Regulations exist in almost every part of the world. China’s Special Economic Zones are free from such regulations, and the various foreign, as well as domestic companies, find it the best space to showcase their products and trade. Lack of regulations from Beijing, as well as other parts of China, is the main reason for the growth of overseas investments in the region. China currently demands a greater block in the economic platform, and that is likely to grow in future as well. The development of SEZs first transpired in 1980, and the focus was the possibility of opening China to the rest of the world. That was also inclusive of the possibility to cement the economic block due to the stiff competition that arises as a result of globalization. The demands are currently a reality, and China can enjoy the tremendous benefits due to such openings. Shenzhen was indeed a small town before getting a status associated with SEZ (Farole & Akinci, 2011). The town is currently one of the largest and contributes tremendously to the growth of the economy’s GDP. Even though the approach presented a rocky beginning, the main aim of the Chinese government was the encouragement of foreign investment, and that matured through the existence of relaxed regulations.
Ideally, every company is unlikely to invest in a region with tough regulations, and that is the reason for the under-development in most of the third world countries. Chinese government realized the approach and decided to create a favorable working environment. The approach attracted investors from different parts of the world and is the main reason for the level of success experienced in the region. Trade in China is currently at its top, and you are likely to get almost every product in the region. Even though such a growth exists, the concern should be on the best approaches to improve the working environment due to the excessive population. Such an amount of pollution greatly harms the environment and can affect the lives of plants and animals in different parts of the world.
Describe the value of Geographic Literacy (Geo-literacy) and how it improves the quality of decision-making
Human must understand environmental aspects around them to help in decision making. Failure to understand such can greatly harm the individual as well as the environment at large. Geo-literacy relates to the possibility of applying the geographical phenomenon as well as understanding in reasoning and decision making. It is imperative to be aware before embarking on any geographical activity since there is always a negative and positive impact of the same (Hinde et al., 2007). In most occasions, individuals are likely to make a bad decision on matters related to the environment.
Having a geo-literacy makes it possible to become mindful of the environment, and that helps in the decision making. The ability to make such wise decisions stands as the basis for positive breakthroughs. In the United States, for instance, having geo-literacy is a mandatory aspect and individuals must go through the curriculum to get the necessary information before practicing. How such a concept does improve decision-making is key. Ideally, it is possible to make a decision, and the best, once a person is aware of things within the environment. In most instances, people operate from a space full of noise. That makes it an uphill task to act from a sober mind and implement actions that promote sustainability.
