COMPARE AND CONTRAST ANDREW HUNTER AND SCOTT MCGOVERN

Introduction

Compare and contrast are words used to demonstrate and illustrate differences and similarities of two things, subjects, people or an area of the study. Therefore, compare and contrast essay contains different paragraphs discuss the similarity and differences of certain subjects. The paper discusses the difference and similarities between Andrew Hunter and Scott McGovern. Scott McGovern is an artist, curator and program director at Ed Video organization. Ed Video is a Media Art organization which supports aspiring artists by educating them and giving the best environment for their work[1]. Also, he promotes the work of his artists by exhibiting their work on the international stage. He specializes in Video Art. Thus, Scott uses art to communicate different experiences. Consequently, Andrew Hunter is an artist and curator; he uses images and painting arts to communicate his ideas[2]. He is a former AGO curator before his retirement. Therefore, Scott McGovern and Scott McGovern are in the same field of work, but they are very different from one another when it comes to who they are as an artist, a custodian of artist work and advocates. Therefore, the purpose is to give a detailed paper that demonstrates the similarities and differences between two artists

Similarities between Andrew Hunter and Scoot McGovern

Both Andrew and Scott use virtual arts to stimulate audiences through visual moments and experiences. Thus, visual arts form art that we can see and try to figure what the message there are communicating or representing. Therefore, visual arts only use eye sense, unlike auditory arts where the audiences hear. These types of art are extremely diverse and commonly used. Visual arts include photography video, paintings, drawing, sculpture, architecture, etc. Thus, Scott McGovern is the program director of the ED Video organization, where most of his artistic work is visualized through video games and video visual arts[3]. Also, Andrew Hunter artistic works are represented in the form of paintings and drawing. Hence, both Andrew Hunter and Scott McGovern use visual arts to communicate their ideas. Thus, visual arts provoke experience, moments and feelings, when the audiences see them. The feeling that the visual art castigate can either be good or bad. Since the both are pros in their work, their visual work is outstanding and helps in communicating human experiences whether good or bad. Their ability to use visual arts to communicate their stories makes them even.

Also, they are compassionate, committed and dedicated to their work. As the program director, Scott McGovern demonstrates his commitment towards his artistic work by working hard to introduce Ed Video Organization to world Arts. Also, he is compassionate about the new artists, and he gives the support they need to prosper in their work. He is dedicated to his work since willing to use any technological advancement to improve his artistic works. Furthermore, he is there to guide and train other artists the way they can improve their work. Similarly, Andrew Hunter is committed, dedicated and compassionate about artistic work. He resigned from being a senior member of AGO because he wanted his cultural arts to be preserved at all costs. Therefore, both Scoot McGovern and Andrew Hunter have compassion, commitment, and dedication towards artistic work.

Moreover, both Andrew and McGovern share vocational similarities since they are in the same business, i.e., Media Arts. Andrew is an artist, writer, educator, and curator who have worked for museums for thirty years[4]. Therefore, he had worked in making better arts and preserving other artistic work. Similarly, Scott McGovern is an artist, educator, curator, and programmer. Therefore, he has been working in this field for a long time. Thus, the both have a taste for mastery work in arts. The both love their work, and there are committed to their field of work. They work art related and their share the same field. Thus, both Scott and Hunter are proud of their work and contributions to Canadian artistic work. They have educated and supported other artists who are now contributing to this field enormously. Also, they both use work to tell a story. Therefore, they are in the same field of work making to have vocational similarities. Although they have similarities, they also have differences that make each one of them unique and different.

Differences between Andrew Hunter and Scott McGovern

Although they both use visual art, they both use different visual art in their work presentation. Scott McGovern uses videos to present his artistic work where Andrew Hunter prefers using paintings and drawings as artistic work. Thus, Scott uses videos while Hunter presents his work in an image. Therefore, as artists they are different since the use of videos is not the same as the use of paintings and drawings. Also, McGovern advocates use of technology to improve inventions of the artistic video work while Hunters advocates use of cultural and traditional heritage to artistic work. They differ because each one other has different views about the artistic work. Since the both are in Media Arts, but one is in a museum, and the one is theaters. Therefore, Scott McGovern work as an artist is different from Andrew Hunter, since they have different presentation and opinion about arts.

Also, Andrew Hunter is advocating for using Canadian art since the ongoing reinstallation of Modern Art lacks connection with the local community. Thus, he argues that art should be a tool of connection among people to avoid marginalization. He emphasizes importance of art as a tool for preserving history. Thus, he advocates a conversation that promotes the Canadian art; Whereas, Scott McGovern is advocating use equipment to improve video artist work to generate new audiences and opportunities for the Canadian artists[5]. Therefore, the two gentlemen have different opinions on what should be done. Hunter is discouraging use of modern art since it has no connection with the Canadian people[6] and communities, while Scott is encouraging the use of modern art to improve artistic work. Also, Hunter advocates for a local conversation that will shape how the Canadian Art will be installed in museums, while Scott is looking to market the Canadian artists on the world stage.

Furthermore, Andrew Hunter as a curator is different from Scott McGovern as curator. A curator is an individual who keeps artistic collections in museums. Also, curator could be a person who selects act to be presented or performed in theaters or exhibitions. Therefore, Andrew Hunter is keeper and custodian of painting and drawing and other art related work in museums while Scott as curator is the one in charge in Ed Video Organization of choosing the artist to do a presentation in the exhibitions. Thus, he either chooses who to present or he chooses the work to be presented. Therefore, as curators the both are unique in their duties as s curator. Hence, the hunter is keeper and custodian of art collections while Scott is the presenter. Therefore, they have different duties from each other which are important to them both.

Conclusion

Scott McGovern is an artist, curator and program director at Ed Video organization. While Hunter is an artist and curator; he uses images and painting arts to communicate his ideas. They both share similarities and they also have differences. Both Andrew and Scott use virtual arts to stimulate audiences through visual moments and experiences. Also, they are compassionate, committed and dedicated to their work. Moreover, both Andrew and McGovern share vocational similarities since they are in the same business, i.e., Media Arts. Although they have similarities, they also have differences that make each one of them unique and different.
