Overview
The scholarly activity attended is the quality improvement committees. This is an activity that calls for the continuous improvement of the quality of products offered to the market. The operation targeted the various production stakeholders, including the employees and the top leaders. The event was quite important. This is because the activity leads to better ideas for the best way of producing quality products for the market. Therefore, the chances of attaining a higher level of customer satisfaction are improved.
Problem
The main problem that leads to the need for the respective activity is the gap between the customers’ expectations and the services delivered. In most cases, the customers expect better and satisfactory services, but they end up receiving none of the same (Rutter et al., 2016). Therefore, the activity aims to determine the causes of the gap between customers’ expectations and what they get.
Solution
The most amicable solution to the problem is the enhancement of continuous training for all employees. The needs of customers keep changing from time to time. Therefore, there is a need to keep on updating the employees on the various changes and the best way to cope with them. This allows a better understanding of their role in the organization and thus bridges the gap.
Opportunity
The quality improvement committee takes advantage of the availability of the employees and other stakeholders in the meeting. Therefore, various challenges being faced in the provision of the services are tabled during the session (Rutter et al., 2016). It becomes easy to solve problems when the people who experience them present them in their first-hand form. The quality improvement committees are, therefore, quite crucial in quality improvement.
Program Competencies Addressed
The activity addressed the competence of the employees in identifying the needs of the customers. Therefore, the style of decision-making applied in every situation at the workplace was addressed. It was agreed that the best decision-making criterion is the situational method, where the decision is based on the circumstance at hand.
