Berkshire Hathaway is one of the most widely known organizations in the world that itself owns many other companies and therefore is often included in the fortune 500. It is almost impossible to think of Berkshire Hathaway without discussing the most successful investor of all time, the chairman of the board of directors and CEO of the company, Warren Buffet. He together with bill gates and Steve Jobs has been historically considered as the successful American Businessman who have also greatly recognized internationally. I have read my success stories of Warren Buffet and have always found him very interesting and motivating that how a son of a U.S. congressman buys a stock at the age of just 11 and then becomes the best investor when grows up.
Another interesting thing about Warren Buffet is that he has pledged to donate 99% of his wealth and even has donated about $41 billion till now. He is the strong companion of Bill Gates and they both are running the Giving Pledge to motivate other billionaires to donate their wealth to solve the major problems of society. This fact is also highlighted from the website of Berkshire Hathaway which has a very simple design and layout while provides all the information one would need to either become the customer of the company or an investor (BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC., 2021).
The financial statements of the company are also available on the website. According to the financial report of 2020, the company earned 42.05 billion dollars in the last year in the form of operating earnings, realized capital gains, increase in the amount of net unrealized capital gains (BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC., 2021). The operating earnings this way significantly increased as compared to the previous year. However, the company still lacks the expected growth in the value of shares which has recently begun to improve in the last quarter of 2020 and showed a great decline in the previous quarters mainly due to the coronavirus.
