The BOLD Immersion Program is a great opportunity for students like me who are pursuing a degree in computer science. Since I aspire to secure an internship at Google after the completion of my degree, I believe that BOLD Immersion would be a stepping stone that would enable me to gain insight into the different Google careers and internship programs. Additionally, I believe that this program will enable me to sharpen my skillset while interacting with great minds in an environment where innovative technology traverses with smart business. I hope that this program will enable me effectively to self-learn and engage in group sessions to develop a network of peers in my field of study. This networking will help me acquire expertise through the experiences of other people. It will benefit me by providing an opportunity to learn about various interrelated fields such as technical functions, marketing, advertising, and people operations. Moreover, the BOLD Immersion Program values diversity in its participants, which is an added benefit for me. Coming from India, I believe that this program will provide me with an inclusive platform and encourage participation in an equitable environment.
Diversity Of Perspectives
Working with a diverse group of individuals often poses a challenge due to various group dynamics. However, the benefits of this diversity often outweigh any initial difficulties. I realized the advantages of working in a diverse group last summer when I did a Summer Guild at Break Through Tech. In this coding program, each group had to build a final project. Working with a team of three people, each with their own set of ideas and dispositions, initially seemed to be a difficult task. While working in groups, we are often faced with the unpleasant feeling of modifying our perceptions. However, it is through this process that we learn about better ideas. Deciding upon what to build was the first challenge. However, once we started brainstorming, we were able to generate numerous innovative ideas, and we agreed to build a tic tactic toe game. Each team member was equipped with a specialized skill set that was effectively utilized for project creation. The shortcomings of one member were compensated by another, and together, we worked, contributing through our individual experiences. Our team project enabled me to view the positive aspects of diversity, and our Spiderman-themed Tic Tac Toe game was the winning project.
