AUTOPOIESES: A SUMMARY

Autopoiesis can be defined as a process of creation or production. It refers to a systematic procedural which has potential to reproduce and sustain itself. The subject word was first coined in 1972 by Francisco Varela and Humberto Maturna which were Chilean biologists. They introduced the term to explain the self-maintaining properties of living organisms. Afterward the concept adopted by sociology, system theory and cognition psychology. However, the original implications of Autopoiesis are available in “Autopoiesis Ad Cognition: The Realization Of The Living” which was first published in 1973.

On page 16 of the above-mentioned book it is defined with the context of Don Quixote in which he mentioned path of arms as (praxis) and action and path of letters (poiesis) as creation and production. At that point author comprehends the depth of the word “poiesis” and formulates the word “Autopoiesis.” Evidently, there is no chronology associated with the word and it explicitly means dimensions of autonomous power to systematic living. Moreover the page 78 explains autopoietic machine which managed through interconnected network of production procedurals of apparatus. Such components persistently renew and apprehend the network of their production through transformation and interactions. Secondly the similar elements represent a substantial integrity in the surrounding of components’ space by highlighting the topological hierarchy of its consideration including network. Furthermore, page 89 asserts that autopoietic system describes a space which is self-contained in nature and therefore it is not possible to explicate it through dynamics of other spaces. Nevertheless this system can be projected on the spaces of manipulations to develop narrative of the subject projection.
