Abolishing Slavery Essay

During the slavery period, there were many individuals who came up to fight for the abolition of slave trade. The slave trade abolitionist used various tactics to make sure that they create awareness to both the slaves as well as the masters. Douglas Fredrick is one of the black Americans who fought so hard in trying to abolish slavery and freeing the blacks from the act of slavery. Fredrick was a renowned human right fighter where he stood to call for the freeing of slaves as well as fighting for women rights. Fredrick acquired education secretly as a slave which enabled him to grow as a brilliant speaker whose main ideologies were to stop the ideas of slavery. He was one of the forefront fighters for the Africans who were made slaves by the white. Douglas was able to develop a dual philosophy of integration as well as resistance. He pushed on freedom which meant that the white should pay the blacks the fruits of their labor. For self-reliance, he called the blacks to pay taxes to be able to achieve his desire for justice and equality He understood the central ideology that will bring sobriety in the economy is by enhancing uniformity.

During the slavery period, both back men, as well as black women, have been used as a tool for gaining their freedom. During the realm slavery, women and men were not treated the same although the treatment was both horrible but female were working at home as house helps while men were working on the farms. The story of Harriet and Fredrick are both the same. The stories are all about children who are born in slavery and later raised to stop the oppression. They rose up and did a great job in their writing which was meant to spread a lot of information on how to try to abolish the slave trade.

It was during the period of subjugation to the African America that these individuals rise and did marvelous things in their writings. However, both experienced slavery in different ways, hence shaping their perspective as well as creating an understanding of what freedom is. The books of the two authors were compelling the African American literature which is very depressing, discouraging but hopeful at the same time. The difference in this writings is the autobiography. The letter has many literary as well as political issues which prevail at the time of preparing the publication. When Douglas publishes his Narrative of the Life, it was received with a political force which the abolitionist had started gaining power on it. However on Jacobs Incidents after its publication which was some point delayed and met the beginning of Civil War which made it being overshadowed.

Truth, on the other hand, has dealt with a lot of hardship from her birth. She like Fredrick and Harriet traveled to the whole country while spreading the slave abolishing information to slaves and making them aware of their freedom. Historically she was the first black woman to win any court case after she sued one of the employers who illegally employed her son. Douglas narrative was based on a sermon while Harriet and Truth domestic novels which get based on sentimental. More so Harriet and Douglas’s story evolves through slavery from birth to death while Truths narrative showed that she managed to be freed from slavery and she was trying to free others. In his writing, Douglas cited a lot of irony of slavery. He stated some rhetorical instances which he used to create the paradox in his narrative.
