During the outbreak of the pandemic, the whole world suffered from the crisis. The pandemic was a problem; there was no medicine and treatment for the cure, which was a challenge for the entire world. The virus originated in China, and the majority of the country’s population lost their lives because of the pandemic. The lack of medical cure/treatment and the severity of the pandemic require critical thinking to find a solution. In the United States people, there was a double crisis because of the death of George Floyd. Because of protests for the rights of George Floyd, people were on the roads, and the threat of spreading the virus increased. During all these situations, the government needs to decide critical thinking and consider the severity of the problem.
Tactics that the government used to analyze the situation and force people to stay at home include assuring them that they will talk about the issue and bring a satisfactory solution. Furthermore, the government issued an arrest warrant against the police officer who killed George to calm the public and to motivate them that the government was managing the case, and they would have to stay home to save their lives. Still, some people were unable to calm down and control that were black Americans and stood for George, thinking it was an act of white supremacy. The solution selected after the critical thinking of government officials was to enforce strict action against people because they were uncontrollable (Bacha, 2020).
Critical thinking plays a crucial role in the situation of crisis and helps the government to analyze and interpret the issue and think for alternative solutions. The loss the world has faced because of the pandemic requires critical thinking to cope with the situation and to come up with strategies that protect them against these uncertainties. Although the essential element of thinking is necessary to discuss issues and solve sudden problems/crises for effective decision-making as a result of critical thinking, an important aspect is that the information conveyed for the case must be authentic and real. That was the biggest challenge towards the management of the problem and addressing an immediate solution. There was much confusion and wrong information conveyed about impacted COVID-19 patients and situations of the community because of protests that affected the resolution of the problem.
The graph above shows the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, but apart from this figure, there were numerous other figures have been published to mislead the public as well as government officials. The massive difference in the provided images affects critical thinking and decision-making during the crisis (Nazareth, 2020). Although critical thinking plays a crucial role in managing problems and trouble, there is no quick way to critically analyze a problem without having authentic information and facts about the case. During the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, the whole world uses critical thinking to escape from the cage of the virus because all medical and scientific efforts have been down at the time. To improve the situation and to figure out how to keep the public in their homes, were all decided through critical thinking, it was strategically important as well as crucial.
