For this assignment, we have chosen the International Quality Home Care Organization (IQHC), which provides home care services to patients in Rochester, USA. We have interviewed the CEO of the company, and we will present our findings in the coming paragraphs.
Acceptance of their cultural beliefs perform the treatment of culturally diverse patients, they control their personal bias and treat patients irrespective of their religious, ethical, or cultural difference. To achieve their objectives, nurses follow standard procedures for the delivery of healthcare. They influence healthcare policy by understanding and reacting to the policy, participating in the policy-making meetings and the legislatures, making sheets, and recording policy-based decisions. Some sites, such as AARP, provide a platform for nurses to participate in policymaking.
The agencies Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) are the oversight agencies that regulate the systems.
The biggest challenge in policymaking is the political and governmental regulations. They demand quality care at a lower cost and impose many regulations and taxes on the agencies, which limits the potential of healthcare services.
The methodological considerations of the policy-making process are important in flawless, evidence-based, and culturally acceptable policies. Several important factors are needed assessment, economic prioritization, measurement of risks and worst-case scenarios, quantitative and quality analysis of policies, and analysis of simulations for the feasibility of policies.
Technology impacts positively on the policy decision-making process. It decreases the cost and makes the policy-making process more effective and accurate. Technology is inevitable in the current system of healthcare as the population has increased, and it is difficult to manage the patients and the services they are provided. Their record-keeping and health information records need to be saved by improved systems. It is also cost-effective to use technology in deciding the policy of the organization and has many potential benefits.
