Project management is a method of setting and achieving goals. It is the process of organizing, planning, and forecasting that how these goals will be achieved. Whether the project is about building a home or cultivating a field, project management is essential to make sure that everything is performed in a timely and organized manner. In this assignment, we will discuss the project management roles that are potential job opportunities for a graduate of PMAN 634 course and will discuss which industries are best for these positions.
Project management is a progressing job area, and now universities are providing graduate and undergraduate courses in this subject. Next, we will describe three industries that hire project managers:
Construction Industry
The construction industry always needs construction project managers. Even in the time of crisis countries need to build homes for the population and provide infrastructure. Construction companies always have complex and critical projects. When there is an authority required who can make critical decisions in less time and when superiors are not available, project managers are required to make decisions to keep work running (Yang et al., 2017). Construction is a diverse field, and its projects range from commercial to residential buildings, roads to bridge construction and even giant structures like the nuclear and thermal power industry, where project managers are assigned to manage projects like the building of nuclear reactors and thermal plants.
IT Industry
The second biggest opportunity for project managers in the IT industry. In a study made by Forbes (Smith, 2013), project managers in the IT industry are earning up to 99,700$ a year. IT Project managers are responsible for planning IT services and products. Most of the project managers in the IT field work from home, and this facility benefits women project managers who do not have to travel to work to manage projects and can work remotely. It is a good field for project managers having an interest in IT and Tech as in this field, they have to interact with technologies like IoT and artificial intelligence and handle large amounts of critical data from different industries.
Lawyers And Attorneys
The third best industry for project managers is lawyers and attorneys. Project managers in the legal services area are involved with making the budget and ensuring that legal services are delivered to the public efficiently. As legal services is a critical field, this industry needs project managers to ensure that workflow isn’t disturbed, which is the primary aim of legal services providers. Project managers in this industry will have to work side by side with specialists in the field, so they have to gain basic knowledge of legal services to understand the procedure and plan the progress they have to deliver.
The best thing about the PMAN 634 course is that it provides a link to the industries that hold jobs for project managers in construction, IT, finance and many other progressing industries. This course provides an understanding of methods and tools required for project managers in the industry. In this course, we learn about project management concepts and understand the whole process that is required in every industry. The whole procedure from project planning, initiation, execution, and completion within deadlines, as well as the tools that are used to estimate the project’s cost and schedule of the project, is provided, which is to be implemented in the industry. This course provides insight and encourages students to expand their study on the job roles of project managers in different industries. The emphasis in the PMAN 634 course is providing real scenarios to students on what challenges they will face in their job as project managers. This course provides team-building procedures, problem-solving within limited resources, and how to solve conflicts in an organization.
