It is crucial for healthcare workers to understand the purpose, functions, and benefits of Electronic Health Records because they are an essential part of the modern care system and provide an inclusive view of patients’ healthcare records as well as safer care delivery to the unhealthy population. They also help care providers to provide better and managed care to patients by providing up-to-date, accurate, and complete information about patients at the point of care. In a nutshell, EHRs are real-time and safer ways to patient health records that make information available securely and instantly to authorized users as they go beyond standard clinical data collected in healthcare providers’ offices.
Databases have revolutionized the way healthcare information is processed as EHRs securely share electronic information about patients’ health with other clinicians which helps care providers in the healthcare delivery system to diagnose patients, improve safer care delivery, and reduce medical errors which increases workers’ autonomous work motivation. EHRs provide healthcare workers with a more comprehensive view of a patient’s health history, track public health trends, facilitate research, enable more accurate and efficient medical treatment, and streamline administrative tasks such as insurance claims and billing. The search function in an EHR database can help healthcare workers track potential health by allowing them to search within the record for specific information (Kubben et al., 2019). This tool enables providers to find individual pieces of medical information making search tools more useful and satisfactory for patients and clinicians. As EHRs limit paperwork in healthcare settings, databases reduce the running costs of medical facilities while improving digital performance.
Part 2 Discussion
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have played an essential role in keeping patients engaged in healthcare practices as these records improve patients’ care and physicians’ livelihoods. Through patient portals, shared decision-making, patient education, and secure messaging, EHRs have allowed physicians and patients to access health information, communicate with care providers, and facilitate shared decision-making by providing access to clinical information to physicians and patients alike which enhances patient engagement.
EHRs have revolutionized the way medical research is conducted in the field of healthcare as they have enabled researchers to access a large amount of patient data which can be used to identify trends and patterns in healthcare outcomes. The tools and procedures used in EHRs have led to the development of new treatments and therapies as well as new research to help researchers collaborate with each other (Kim et al., 2019). EHRs also allow patients to participate in clinical trials by providing them access to medical records and sharing patient data with care providers and researchers.
