It is the story of a person named Billy who briefly explained about his life experiences throughout the story. This story is like a trip to the audience in which the author told the audience about his every life experiences, and most of them are linked to the war. Billy faced World War II and discussed its events in his book. The author tried to make a fictional story that is having several loops in every chapter, and it is based on the outcomes, pitfalls, and the disastrous consequences of war.
The narrator of the story is consistently changing the events during the story and mainly keep discussing the war he faced when he was young. The repetition of events keeps the audience attracted towards the story, and it shows the sense of connection between the events. Billy was captured in Work War II, by the British people and faced several adverse events in his life. The most important memory of war was the situation of Dresden when he was a prisoner, and it was the city of Germany. No one expected the bombing but the city of Dresden was bombed and more than 100,000 people died. When Billy and other prisoners came out after the bombing, they observed the huge butchery of the people, and there was no life.
The author wanted to write the book on the events of Dresden to show the destructive occurrences of war, but he added several other events into the book such as his other life experiences. Throughout the story, he consistently tells the audience about the outcomes of war. It includes painful experiences, mental instability, and severe painful memories that persist with the author throughout his life. In the wars, numerous people die, and without the wars, people also die but their death is not considered as a huge massacre similar to the occurrence of World War II. Death remains present always, but in the wars, the deaths of innocent people leave nothing but sadness.
The memories of Dresden impacted the life of narrator that he was never able to erase his memories of the huge mass murder of the people. He survived but not the one who enjoyed his life but the one who consistently thought about the death and the situational bombing in the Dresden city. For him, there was no escape from the memories, and there is no way to end them. He faced several mental instability phases in his life after experiencing the event of World War II.
The author tried to make a fictional story that is having several loops in every chapter, and it is based on the outcomes, pitfalls, and the disastrous consequences of war. The author never gets rid of the war memories and huge death he faced when he was in Dresden city. The author purpose of this story is to present the disastrous and destructive situation of war and how it impacts on the lives of people who witnessed the war. Many people die during war, but the ones who remain alive and experienced the war are the ones who are not able to live a perfect and happy life.
