The specific article “Queering the Writing Center” by Harry Denney is undoubtedly one of the difficult readings as it comes up with many complex concepts to identify and grasp. I faced an immense level of difficult to understand the core concept of the article referring to the approach presented by the author. The overall facet of the article is complex because it comes with the collection of many ideas related to the writing center. I perceived the main theme of the article in the form of writing center theory.
The writer of the article delivers the approach of the writing center which motivates conversations as it ultimately helps to enhance the features of brainstorming and creativity. Denny successfully addresses the issue of the complex form of consultants and writers. This particular paradigm can be assessed through the following: “intricately woven tapestries, rich in the authenticity and texture of identities.” (Denny, 103). There are the necessary indications about the tutorial or learning session which provides options to the students and tutors to align themselves with the particular aspect of deconstruction of their identities.
The broad range of the main concept of the article also identify through the following words; “students and tutors alike shore up, build, anew, and deconstruct identities and the ways of knowing that are saturated to them.” (Denny, 103). Through these words, the writer presents the approach that it is crucial to understand that sitting together in the tutoring session never ultimately change the facet of their rich identities. The single word writer or consultant is not enough as it closely linked to the aspect of personal identity. This particular perspective provides the approach that the feature of the LGBTQ + in the writing center cannot hide the sexual or gender identity of the members and it also immensely impact the analytical views of the individual.
