Have you ever been frustrated trying to gain someone’s approval for an activity that is very important to you? Have you ever had a difficult time understanding someone else’s devotion to an activity that means a lot to him or her—but not personally to you? Write a narrative essay in which you select one of these experiences and relate the main events associated with it, using vivid descriptions to make your characters real to your readers.

I have always dreamt of going to Los Angeles with my friend to attend the LA Music Academy. Music has always been my foremost passion. I always wanted to pursue my professional career in the field of music. However, I have always faced massive criticism for my ambitions in a musical career. Today is the first day of my enrollment in L.A Music Academy. I am standing in front of my dream with numerous memories of my hardships and rigid stances to get over here. I am envisaging a part of my struggles and criticism that I received to get here. For the first time, I felt affiliated with musical notes was in high school. I heard one person playing guitar on a street-side musical show. I can never forget the vibrating sound of the musical notes coming out of the strings when his fingers were tapping on them with elegance and classiness. The melody created by the musician inspired me to an extent, that it gave purpose to my personal and professional career. I discussed my ambition toward music with my parents. However, to my dismay, my father gave me a sarcastic laugh and my mother nodded her head in disappointment. After receiving such a negative response from my parents, I quarreled back for my newly found desire for music. My father questioned the professional reliability of my newly found ambition. I had no answer to it other than my silence and teary eyes filled with love for music and wretchedness for my parents not supporting me. I isolated myself in the room and never openly spoke to my parents about it again. I bought my musical instruments with my savings by doing a part-time job at a cafe. My parents never approved of my musical activities and never funded me for my musical instruments. Despite all the criticism and lack of familial support, I have reached my first step to achieve my dream.
