LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
Dear Dr. Harris,
My name is Archibald Andrews; I am a senior majoring in History. I attended your American History course last year, in spring and achieved an A in class. I am set to graduate this year and would be applying for a job at this very university as a lecturer(Business Communication). I would, therefore, require a recommendation letter from you that I can submit to the hiring manager by the end of November.
During the time I was your student, I was fascinated by the minor events in everyday life of ordinary Americans that led to the Civil War. The way, petty problems related to differences in opinions about slavery played a role. And then further, their link with the nation’s economy which created a situation, where the two opposing ended up fighting each other. I must say that you explained everything very well. Your method of letting the entire class role-play the Civil War has left fond memories. I am pretty sure that I will never forget that chapter.
Working for Princeton is my dream because I feel that I am a part of the family. A family that picked me guided me and enlightened me about things I knew nothing about. I understand that working as a lecturer in the History department would be following your footsteps, in a way. I know that you have taken part of some successful research studies, and I would love to take part in pursuits, through which I can impart whatever I have learned. It is due to your excellent teaching that I developed a love for History and decided to apply for the post of lecturer in the History department.
My hiring manager, Dr. Tim mentioned that the position I am applying for would require me to work long hours. These extended hours would include teaching, marking papers and preparing for the next day’s lecture. I am hoping that you add in the recommendation letter the amount of dedication that I showed during your class, especially during the group projects and presentations. I am sure you remember, the group project assigned to me was comparatively tricky. My group and I faced some difficulties, though we managed to earn an A in the end; because of the dedication, we showed.
If you make up your mind to write me a letter of recommendation, do send it to the human resources department of Princeton University at the following address;
Natasha Lodge;
Human Resource Manager;
Princeton, NJ 08544, USA
If, however, you want me to collect it instead, then let me know so I can manage it from your office with the paperwork.
I am thanking you beforehand, for all the time and support. I thoroughly enjoyed your class and learned a lot from you. Your classes helped me a lot in making up my mind regarding what I want to do after college. You have indeed helped me understand that History is my true calling and for this, I will always be grateful to you.
Best,
Archibald Andrews
