Islam and Christianity both are monotheist religions and these are also the world’s main religions. There is one core belief in Islam that the only god praiseworthy for worship is Allah. Muslims have a belief that Allah is the only Sustainer and Originator of the world. He has no partner or any other associate even in the form of children. Allah has created all things solely and it is due to His merciful nature along with His wise judgment and just. In short, in Islam, Allah is regarded as the First and the Last. Along with Islam, Christianity is also a monotheist religion as Christians also affirm the oneness of God (Bible, 2000). God has created the entire universe and is the source of all existence. He is a just God and has rules to follow but at the same time, he is a very merciful God. But monotheism in Christianity is sometimes misinterpreted as Christians have a belief that one God is triune. This belief is not the rejection of the oneness of God but it is an assertion of the intricacy of the Divine Being.
Moreover, both monotheist religions have effectively dealt with the challenge of modernity. Modernity refers to being up-to-date and it also refers to the modern way of living. It emerged from Europe and then spread all over the world. Islam claims that it is a religion that incorporated all the demands of modern world also. But still, there are challenging tasks for 21st-century Muslim religious scholars. Today is the world of technology and there is a need for more complex and sophisticated logical answers to the people’s questions that are living in this modern world. Islam has used modern devices to answer all the challenges. All modern technology has used the searching of such hidden secrets that are in-universe the (Itani, 2017). Technology is enabling a person to search the Allah and has a more strong belief compared dot the past in Allah. There are many aspects of Allah’s creation that are hidden. But, the modern world has enabled us to look at those aspects also. Thus, Islam as a religion has largely become part of modern life administratively, economically as well as culturally. Modernity rests principally on a humble idea of instability.
Islam has successfully overcome the challenges of the modern world and in today’s modern world; people are leering from Islamic principles. Islam is such a religion that has also provided guidelines regarding the relations of people not with God but with each other also(Itani, 2017). As the world is changing, so is the nature of relations among people changing. But this challenge has been effectively addressed by Islam by focusing on the values that are more included towards humanity. Islam has effectively disused individual rights and obligations and changing nature of these rights is still in the domain of Islam. For example, today businesses are operated in the international market. But the dealings and trades are still under ethical guidelines and Islam are successful in providing these guidelines to both consumers and businesses. Also, the way people live is changing and Islam has successfully addressed all the issues that are emerging due to this change. Channing social values are destroying the world either in the form of wars or in the form of destruction of relations among counties. These modern challenges are overcoming muslins by following the principles of Islam.
Islam is not only the single religion that is facing the challenge of the modern world but at the same time, this challenge is also faced by Christianity. It is an impression in the modern world that religion and modern life are unsuited. It is believed that inaction, immobility as well as rigidity are the intrinsic possessions of spirituality. As the world is heading towards the commencement of the third millennium, there are changes in society that are seemingly going out of control of the religious boundaries of Christianity. But this is not the fact as there are lots of conflicts in today’s world among nations but at the same time, Christianity is focusing on a peaceful society. With these teaching, people can effectively overcome the challenges of the modern world. Al the solution to modern world problems lies in following the teachings of religions that have provided guidelines for addressing these challenges.
Moreover, technology is not against Christianity rather it is empowering the religion. With the use of technology, it is now possible for churches to spread their message all over the world easily. Traditionally there has been progress for Christianity when there has been progress in technology. Moreover, there are many cases, in which the church was the first entity that was adopting the technology. With the use of technology, priests are successfully spreading the message of God all over the world. This technology by Christianity is also being used for affirming the faith of people. People are now more aware of the hidden aspects of nature that God has created and they have no strong belief in God after seeing those aspects that have been defied by technology. In Bible, God emphasizes the people to search for wisdom, and one way of this can be to develop a technology in order to discover the universe of God that he has created for people (Bible, 2000). Also, the gift of wisdom of God can be used with technology to search for the treatment of different ailments and thank God for such wisdom that he has bestowed upon mankind.
