Innovations of Henry Ford Essay

Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863. He always participated in the family farm. Henry’s initial disclosure to his genuine passion for machines and technicalities was discovered while visiting the town with his father. There he got a chance to see a few of the most primitive mechanization of machinery, engines, and factories. He was fortunate enough to start as an engineer in 1891 at Edison Illuminating Company, and honestly rapidly moved to the higher positions. Though he had built a reputation at Edison Illuminating, Ford wasn’t satisfied with it and wanted to endeavor in the area of motorized engineering. As a youngster, Ford left everything he got at that time and started repairing people’s watches. As he got matured, he discovered each mechanical opening he found, educating himself to repair steam engines and run mill set-ups. In the 1890s, he concentrated mainly on internal ignition engines (Innovations & Contributions).

His Contributions

He became an internee at an appliance shop and soon when he ended his internship, he focused on constructing and establishing a steam engine which could help to move a plow or carriage. It was only when he recognized that public had the greater interest in driving on the roads as compared to labor on farms. Then he changed his concentration to road cars. He discarded his ideas to run a road car by steam because it was unsafe for the motorist but he didn’t stop his vision of a horseless transport. He was working as an engineer and mechanic in the daytime and worked on his machine in the evenings. Once, during that time, he also constructed a workshop at the backside of his house (Innovations & Contributions).

Quadricycle

His first-ever motorized car was finished in 1892. It was a two-seated-car. His vehicle frightened horses and blocked road traffic as public assembled to look at the only car driven everywhere in Detroit. He sold it in 1896 and instantly started functioning on a second classic, which would be a little lighter. In spite of getting a position of chief engineer, he left his employment in 1899 to take his all attention towards trading cars (Innovations & Contributions).

Ford Motor Car Company and the Model-T

In 1903, he established the Ford Motor Company. They constructed countless models for experimenting. After five years of conducting experiments with the models, they initiated to retail cars as far as Europe.  Henry Ford established the Ford Motor Company which had no comparison with any company. It wasn’t due to fortunate situations or supportive atmosphere that helped in the establishment of this company. It was only accomplished due to the efforts of Henry Ford (Innovations & Contributions).

After some efforts, a Model-T was established. Nearly all the components of the Model T were previously in at least one of the earlier eight models of carriages Ford had manufactured. It was traded in somewhat 1908 or 1909. It was a unique model, and no one else had ever established such thing. At that moment, Ford determined to only construct the Model T cars (Innovations & Contributions).

Manufacturer & Industry Revolutions

After the success of Model-T, he started practicing procedures of mass production that would transform American production system, containing the usage of big construction plants; standardized, interchangeable parts; and the moving assembly line. Before Henry’s innovation in the assembly line, tow ropes were used, and that was a pretty hard and time-consuming technique. Mass production considerably decreases the time needed to construct an automobile. In 1914, Ford also incremented the regular income for an eight-hour day for his employees to $5. This helped in setting a scale for the industry. In 1927, Ford stimulated construction of a vast industrialized composite he had constructed beside the banks of the River Rouge in Dearborn, Michigan (History).

Ford’s Political Opinions

Ford’s political opinions brought great disapproval over the years, starting with his movement in contradiction of U.S. participation in World War I. He prepared an unsuccessful offer for a U.S. Council seat in 1918, barely dropping in a campaign distinct from personal attacks from his competitor. In the Dearborn Independent, a regional newspaper he subscribed in 1918, Ford printed many anti-Semitic works. Though he later abandoned the literature and retailed the paper (History).
