GAPS Analysis

GAPS analysis portrays a significant framework for individuals to identify and achieve desired career goals. This four-step methodology, i.e. goals, abilities, perceptions and standards, inspires professionals to hone their strengths and apply them efficiently to achieve the objectives. However, this reflection will conduct a GAPS analysis for my workplace goal, primarily the leadership role in the field of law.

Step 1: Goals

My primary objective is to hold a leading position as a law attorney in international and corporate law. Meanwhile, the aligned goals revolve around legal consultation for multi-national companies and their representation in international and cross-border courts. In addition, leading positions like manager legal counsel in the corporate sector, international transactions issues, assistance to global legislative bodies, and navigation concerning international legal issues are also included in this objective listing. Hence, downsizing in the legal sector and the emergence of AI (Artificial Intelligence) also instigated me to adorn myself with specialized attributes to achieve my goals.

Step 2: Abilities

To develop a career in international and corporate law, it is mandatory to polish and hone my existing strengths, especially communication skills, research aptitude, and analytical approach along a deep observation. Similarly, I aspire further to develop refined skills including legal drafting, negotiation power, argumentation, arbitration ability and a comprehensive grip on multiple legal systems around the globe.

Step 3: Perceptions

For mounting growth in this career, understanding the perceptions of others is mandatory. The extensive feedback demonstrates my high-level success in this regard. Most individuals have perceptions that I remain focused, and industrious, work competently under pressure, and adorn with efficient convincing skills. In addition, I may gauge how to precede complex cases tactfully, handle international clientage and present a professional spirit.

Step 4: Standards

Finally, stating standards, law firms desire regional language proficiency, specialists in international clientage handling, in-depth grip on corporate rules, regulation and governance. Similarly, updated knowledge of legal advancements, deal specialists, arbitration expertise and higher educational trainings are considered necessary equipment. These essentials must be fulfilled to excel in the stated field.
