Family-Annotated Bibliography

This annotated bibliography aims to establish the people’s thoughts about the word family in our life. Although this world seems small, its impacts are greater than any other world. The family is always there to create a person and develop his/her personality for a better future. The culture of the family and the environment given by the family leaves an impact on the minds of young children. At a young age, all the habits they adopt are based on the lifestyle provided by the family. Thus, this bibliography will highlight the importance of family culture and its better structure for young children.

Anderson, J. (2014). The Impact of Family Structure on the Health of Children: Effects of Divorce. The Linacre Quarterly, 81(4), pp.378-387.

For the development of healthy minds in children, the relationship between parents, overall as a family, matters a lot. Family structure affects the health of children. For the past decades, this issue has been under consideration by many of the people. Biological parents pursuing the upbringing of their children are responsible for the physical and mental health of their children. When the families are broken in front of the young children by their parents getting separated there will be a disturbance in the mind of the children. Hence, unhealthy marriages affect the overall upbringing of the children. Society should promote a healthy family style, encouraging people to live happy marriages.

Education of the children begins at their home. When the family is attracted to the importance of books and their necessary existence in their lives, then the children will eventually be fond of books. Research has shown that children with books in their families learn more than children with bookless homes. The professions adopted by the fathers in their family will be the basis for their better future. This analysis in the article has been done through the nations of 27 different countries. All this analysis ended at a single point: the more educated the family of the children, the better upbringing and education of the children will be observed.

Sharma, R. (2013). The family and family structure classification is redefined for the current times. Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2(4), p.306.

In most social sciences, the basic unit of study and analysis starts with family. Many researchers and analysts have attempted to define family. The definition of family changes from country to country and sometimes even from culture to culture because certain cultures value too much and some don’t pay much heed to the family. In the current time, the changing realities have forced society to redefine the structure of the family. With the old conventions, there was less understanding of the elders with the children in their family, but now the need for understanding is higher. Hence, there is a proposed redefinition of family in front of everyone. This definition highlights that these days, families don’t always hold common household, but their meet and greet sessions are like they were in the old times.

Fomby, P. and Cherlin, A. (2007). Family Instability and Child Well-Being. American Sociological Review, 72(2), pp.181-204.

Past research has shown that the child’s well-being depends highly on the stability of the family. Family structure has gone through multiple transitions in the past years. Starting from living in a common room and sharing everything to sharing household chores under different roofs, family structures have been redefined. In the past, everyone was aware of the problems and issues going on with their family members and helped in solving the issues. However, now different roofs have separated the family’s problems as well. These transitions have affected the well-being of the children as well. They lack the amount of attention they need at their young ages.

Mulder, C. (2013). Family dynamics and housing. Demographic Research, 29, pp.355-378.

Houses of parents providing good quality for the betterment of their children is the requirement of every person in this society. Safety, security, and flexibility provided by the families can never be found anywhere else. Separation of the parents or even from the current family members leads to the destruction of well-settled families.
