Experimental Designs of Romantic red: Red enhances men’s attraction to women

Revolutionary research by two psychologists at the University of Rochester is available in the academic journal “Personality and Social Psychology adds color—literally and figuratively—to the age-old question of what attracts men to women.”

The study has provided the 1st experiential maintenance for the stable love matter of the society with the color red. As for the red color, psychologists have used it in early rituals to present red light and a red heart on a special day; the rose-colored is very tied to passion and idealistic love among millennia and cultures. However, this research said by Elliot is his effort to systematically manuscript the special effects of the red color on activities from the perspective of the relationships. In this study, Men and women are independent variables, whereas their emotions and feelings are dependent variables (Elliot, A. S., & Niesta, D., 2008).

In a sequence of five experiments that make use of independent-groups-designs, Psychologists have studied the hypothesized effect of red color on the perception of men towards women. In all of the studies, the members were revealed with a photo of a woman. At the same time, the depiction of the woman has remained similar; the backdrop color was different in different circumstances. Therefore, The composition of independent groups was prepared for the red backdrop as compared to that of a background that was gray, white, green, or blue. Subsequent to a short view (five to ten seconds) of the image, every member has assessed the girl exposed for her pleasant appearance, aptitude, likeness, sympathy, and numerous events of sexual attractiveness. Out of six experiments, a small number of females were also assessed, and the good looks of the female were revealed. The members included in the research are 32 women and 172 men, and most of them are at least college undergraduates.

While the red color has enhanced the optimistic approach in this peer review, previous research has suggested that the significance of the red color depends on its circumstance. For instance, Elliot and many others have seen that red color in very competing circumstances, for example, sporting events and written examinations.

These researchers have discovered the statistically considerable effect of the red color on the perception of men of the sexual charisma of females. Fascinatingly, the red color had not caused any effect on the women who evaluated other females or on men’s assessment of the women’s companionable attributes, for example, likeability, intelligence, or sympathy. The outcome has further provided a sturdy hold for the hypothesized “red effect.” yet a short (five to ten second) peek of red has enhanced the men’s desirability towards the women. The parallel results are also reported for some other animals. The study has further discussed their outcome and implication for studies in intra-personal and sexual desirability.
