Existence of God

What is your present concept of God? Explain.

Over the years, through different experiences, I have come to believe that God exists but not in the way religions present him. Preachers of different religions including Christianity always make their followers fear God and submit to his absolute will. This approach either pushes the people away from religion or makes them religious fanatics who try to impose their beliefs on others. This representation of God that does not forgive people, who do not follow him, is a false one as the creator of this beautiful world cannot be this cruel. So instead of finding God, in different religions, it is better to find the traces of existence in oneself and nature. I believe that God is more than the concept presented in religions and people can only seek him through the understanding of self. God is not a biased entity and he does not exclude people from his love just because they do not believe in his existence.

How is it possible for a person to “know” that they “know” God?

People that can know God, find him in every creation that includes their existence as well. These people can find peace and serenity which allows them to know that God exists as they see him in everything. They come to know that he is benevolent and is always there with them.

Is it possible to have an understanding of God apart from the Bible?

Yes, many people believe in the existence of God and they do not follow Christianity or any other religion but they know that there is a higher power that controls all the earthly matters. In ancient times when there was no Bible to follow, people worshipped higher power; somehow they knew that God existed. They performed rituals and prayers to understand him.
