Drunk and driving is an important topic as nowadays young people consider it to be too cool to drive a wheel while he or she’s drunk but they do not know how much danger they are going to put on everyone. Some people find it useful because the fees and charges collected on drunk driving go to the law enforcement agency which is used for social and healthy purposes. Some people believe that those who drive while they’re drunk should be imprisoned for their first offense.

In most of drink and drive cases, the young generation has been seen as highly involved. Drunk driving affects thousands of people every year. It is a harmful behavior that appears to be a national or local problem. Young generation finds it too cool to drive while they are drunk. For them, it’s an excitement. A study has been done which revealed that three out of every ten Americans will be involved in drunk driving matters. The study also showed that every year drunk driver costs the American people $114 billion dollars each year in medical expenses, court time and legal fees (Price, 2015).

Consumption of high alcohol can cost an individual’s life who is driving and also of others life who are on road. One of the reports published by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Authority) on drunk driving reported that on daily basis 29 people die in the crash caused by drunk driver. This is, in fact, one person in every 50 minutes (2016). It has also been reported that drunk driving crashes cause a death or 10,000 people in a year.it has also been mentioned that among the drunk driving crashes, people killed in these crashes, 67% of these people were in crashes in which at least one driver in a crash had a blood alcohol content of 0.15.

The fines collected from drunk driving used for healthy and social welfare purposes. It has been claimed that ” Drunk driving is not a frequent event” Refutation on this claim is by the NHTSA states that there were alcohol-impaired incidents every 52 minutes in the USA in 2013. Another claim on drunk driving is they do not result in accidents. Refutation of this claim is, in 2013, alcohol-impaired crash fatalities encountered for 31% of all crashes (www.responsibility.org).

Drunk driving is one of the main issues prevailing in our society and they need to be imprisoned for their offense so that accidents caused by drunk drivers will never happen. Drinking and driving are not right. It is not fair for drunk drivers to put lives of others in danger. One of the major solution to this problem, every person who gets caught should be imprisoned for at least one year.
