Insight the Perfect Wall Article Analysis

Joseph Lstiburek is a Canadian engineer with good experience in indoor air quality and moisture control. ASHRAE Journal has produced his paper, Insight, the Perfect Wall, in which he has focused on the wall designs that can prevent the effects of the outside environment on the indoor atmosphere. The paper’s main aim is to analyze the article regarding architectural improvement critically.

The article has a concept of a perfect wall with multiple layers and engineered gaps that would help in air control, thermal control, and ultraviolet screening. There is a discussion that the walls are similar to the roof and slabs as they function the same, protecting the inside from outside effects[1]. Approximately all the required parts of the architectural design problems are highlighted in the article, which includes the design of the walls, roof design, and the connectivity of the wall and roof[2]. The concept gained popularity because he named his wall structure the 500-year wall, in which he explained the reasons that this wall was designed after 500 years of different evolutions and will also last for the next 500 years because of its structure and sustainability[3]. It is a basic requirement to explain the use of these walls, which also demonstrates that they will be used in special structures like museums, art galleries, and libraries to protect expensive and ancient antiques.

On the whole, the article is well-formed, and everything was adequately explained within the flow. In contrast, some things are missing that must be included to attract future users of this concept. Enhancing this idea is necessary and should be specified precisely.
