When one looks at the different documentaries that seem to project about the future of the world, the overall tone of these documentaries is such that they tend to paint a highly negative picture of the direction in which things are moving at any point of time. The exception though in this regard of Don’t Panic, which is an upbeat documentary about the way population bubble is being perceived at the moment as well as the stories about the population burst across the world. Now, thing about selective discussion is that one can pick a program that is going on a certain part of the world and can label this program a success. And even though the program that is being running in Bangladesh is a successful one, it cannot be said that the same program is going to be successful in some of the other nations of the world where things are not that good. At the same time, the assumption that the rich people must be cutting down on their energy usage is going to help with the poverty change is something of a farfetched assumption that is not going to hold merit in the long run.
Now coming towards the second part of the question. Now, if one talks about the way things used to roll out in the past, It can be seen that the notion of prosperity specially in some of the Asian cultures was that how greater the number of children are, the higher are the chances that one is going to have a prosper life. There were religious implications as well about the population control. Keeping in mind these considerations, it can be said that the documentary even though paints a very optimistic picture, it fails to reflect the daunting reality that is in front and the policy makers have to realize the importance of resource allocation.
