ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN

“I thought there was a good story in how Carl and Bob were investigating Watergate.” Robert Redford said. In any case, placed in the similar situation I would have made a move to report the story. The story was just natural, it portrayed the common most held dear belief of happy ending where the unpleasant realities are overcome by triumph.

June 8, 1789, provided: ”The people shall not be deprived or abridged of their right to speak, to write, or to publish their sentiments. As a reporter, my decision to report and publish my sentiment is enshrined in the constitution and are protected.

Elections bring up heated talks, aggressiveness and many actions such as “peaceful demonstration.” During this time, many of the ruling party and government many of its actions are geared to restore order in the country especially when the situation becomes too much. One day, I was to cover a demonstration that the government had asked all the media houses not air it directly as it happens. However, the policed were using excessive force, to subdue the demonstrators. Seeing what was happening, I resolved to report the actions as they happen. The demonstration persisted for a whole week, with the police officer beating and others were killed. As a reporter, I was not lucky. On the 3rd day I was arrested and detained, for about a week and eventually, I was realized after the pressure from media house on my release. Nevertheless, looking back I can connect the dots and conclude that my bold step to report directly as event happen, played a big whole in letting the world know the situation and eventually even the international media got interested with what was happening in the country. The human rights must be upheld by the government to avoid loss of lives of innocent citizens.
